Abstract

A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a porous insulating layer, and nonaqueous electrolyte. The porous insulating layer is interposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. The nonaqueous electrolyte is contained at least in the porous insulating layer. The mixture layer of the positive electrode and the porous insulating layer each include a structure retainer.

Claims (10)

1. A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, comprising:

a positive electrode having a mixture layer which contains an active material in which lithium ions are electrochemically intercalatable and deintercalatable;

a negative electrode having a layer which contains an active material in which lithium ions are electrochemically intercalatable and deintercalatable;

a porous insulating layer interposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode; and

nonaqueous electrolyte contained at least in the porous insulating layer,

wherein the mixture layer of the positive electrode includes a first compression-resistant component for preventing the mixture layer of the positive electrode from being compressed due to expansion of the active material of the negative electrode in a thickness direction of the layer of the negative electrode,

the porous insulating layer includes a second compression-resistant component, or is made of the second compression-resistant component, the second compression-resistant component preventing the porous insulating layer from being compressed due to expansion of the active material of the negative electrode in the thickness direction of the layer of the negative electrode, and

the first compression-resistant component is ceramic granules or carbon fiber, and the second compression-resistant component is ceramic granules.

2. The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery of claim 1 , wherein the ceramic granules of the second-resistant component have the shape of twigs.

3. The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery of claim 1 , wherein the layer of the negative electrode includes an expansion-resistant component for preventing the active material of the negative electrode from being expanded, and the expansion-resistant component is carbon fiber.
