Abstract

A method for dividing substantially nonpolarized white light into three substantially nonpolarized fractions includes splitting the substantially nonpolarized white light into a first fraction and a second fraction, the first fraction being substantially nonpolarized light of a first wavelength interval and the second fraction of substantially nonpolarized light of a second and a third wavelength interval, the first wavelength interval being located between the second and the third wavelength interval and splitting the second fraction into a third fraction with substantially nonpolarized light of the second wavelength interval and into a fourth fraction with substantially nonpolarized light of the third wavelength interval.

Claims (8)

1. A method for dividing substantially nonpolarized white light into three substantially nonpolarized fractions comprising the steps of:

splitting the substantially nonpolarized white light into a first fraction and a second fraction, the first fraction comprising substantially nonpolarized light of a first wavelength interval and the second fraction comprising substantially nonpolarized light of a second and a third wavelength interval, and the first wavelength interval is located between the second and the third wavelength interval; and

splitting the second fraction into a third fraction with substantially nonpolarized light of the second wavelength interval and into a fourth fraction with substantially nonpolarized light of the third wavelength interval.

2. A method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein a first interference filter is placed into the beam path for splitting the white light into the first and the second fraction, and the interference filter substantially allows light of the first wavelength interval to pass and the interference filter substantially reflects light of the second and the third wavelength interval.

3. A method as claimed in claim 2 , wherein a second interference filter is placed downstream from the first interference filter into the beam path of the second fraction for splitting the second fraction into the third and fourth fraction and the interference filter allows the third fraction substantially to pass and substantially reflects the fourth fraction.

4. A method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the wavelength interval of the fourth fraction comprises shorter wavelengths than the wavelength interval of the third fraction.

5. A method as claimed in claim 2 , wherein the first interference filter is structured such that the layers of the interference filter reflecting the light of the second and of the third wavelength interval are substantially supported on one side of the substrate.

6. A method as claimed in claim 2 , wherein the wavelength interval of the fourth fraction comprises shorter wavelengths than the wavelength interval of the third fraction and that the interference filter is disposed such that light of the fourth fraction is substantially reflected on the surface of the interference filter without previously penetrating a substrate enclosed by the interference filter.
