1 . A graphical user interface, comprising:

a scroll area displaying search results; and

a permanently displayed anchored area.

2 . The graphical user interface of claim 1 wherein the anchored area includes a search box.

3 . The graphical user interface of claim 1 wherein the anchored area includes advertisements.

4 . The graphical user interface of claim 1 wherein the anchored area includes announcements.

5 . The graphical user interface of claim 1 wherein the anchored area includes news reports.

6 . The graphical user interface of claim 1 wherein the anchored area includes content relevant to a user.

7 . The graphical user interface of claim 1 wherein the anchored area includes pagination controls.

8 . The graphical user interface of claim 1 wherein the anchored area includes column controls.

9 . The graphical user interface of claim 1 wherein the anchored area includes textual summary length controls.
