Abstract

An image reading apparatus is supplied, which can continuously read plural manuscripts and memorize separatively their image data. The image reading apparatus can read plural manuscripts each is formed from head sheet and document sheet in pairs and read the plural manuscripts as respective image data, and comprises a sheet identifying section which identifies the head sheet; an information obtaining section which obtains sort information of the document sheet from the head sheet after the sheet identifying section identified the head sheet; and a reading section which reads the document sheet following the head sheet on the basis of the sort information obtained by said information obtaining section.

Claims (23)

1. An image reading apparatus which can continuously read a plurality of manuscripts, each manuscript comprising a plurality of sheets, including a header sheet and one or more corresponding document sheets, the apparatus comprising:

a reading section which reads the plurality of manuscripts;

an identifying section which analyzes each of the plurality of sheets of each manuscript and judges whether each of the plurality of sheets is a header sheet or a document sheet; and

a file making section which:

1) creates a new electronic file for storing read data of a manuscript in response to the identifying section identifying a header sheet, and

2) stores the read data of the corresponding document sheets of the manuscript to said electronic file.

2. The image reading apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising:

an information obtaining section which obtains sort information of the one or more corresponding document sheets of each manuscript from the header sheet for each manuscript after the identifying section identifies the header sheet; and

a reading section which reads the corresponding document sheets following the header sheet on the basis of the sort information obtained by the information obtaining section.

3. The image reading apparatus according to claim 1 ,

wherein the file making section also appends predetermined information existing in the header sheet to each electronic file.

4. An image reading apparatus which can continuously read a plurality of sets of manuscripts, each set including a plurality of manuscripts, as a manuscript group, comprising:

a reading section which continuously reads a manuscript group;

an identifying section which identifies the respective sets of manuscripts included in each manuscript group; and

a memorizing controlling section which memorizes together read data of each set of manuscripts identified by the identifying section.

5. The image reading apparatus according to claim 4 ,

wherein each manuscript includes a header page and identification information is appended to a predetermined position of the header page, and wherein the identifying section identifies the header page on the basis of the identification information.

6. The image reading apparatus according to claim 5 , wherein the identification information is a predetermined identification mark.

7. The image reading apparatus according to claim 4 , further comprising:

a displayer which displays a page number input scene to make a user input respective page numbers of the plurality of manuscripts,

wherein each manuscript includes a header page and the identifying section identifies the respective header pages on the basis of the respective page numbers.

8. The image reading apparatus according to claim 2 ,

wherein the information obtaining section has a converting section which converts the obtained sort information into setting information which corresponds to the sort information and is used when the reading section performs a reading operation.
