COMMUNICATING PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE DATA TO A MEDICAL DEVICE
Methods and systems of patient treatment are disclosed. The methods and systems include use of medical device informatics to modify and validate therapies and drugs used in those therapies. In certain embodiments, a medical device, such as a medical infusion pump, interfaces with a server to administer the patient treatments. In one aspect, a method of scheduling maintenance of a medical device is disclosed. The method includes storing a medical device maintenance schedule on a computing system remote from the medical device, the medical device maintenance schedule including a reminder to perform maintenance on the medical device. The method further includes transmitting the reminder from the computing system to the medical device.
1 . A method of scheduling maintenance of a medical device, the method comprising:
storing a medical device maintenance schedule on a computing system remote from the medical device, the medical device maintenance schedule including a reminder to perform maintenance on the medical device; and
transmitting the reminder from the computing system to the medical device.
2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising displaying the reminder.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the medical device is a medical infusion pump.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein transmitting the reminder occurs in response to communication from the medical device to the computing system.
5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising allowing the medical device to continue operation after receiving the reminder.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the reminder disables the medical device.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein transmitting the reminder occurs a predetermined time before required maintenance of the medical device.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the computing system is a medical device server communicatively connected to the medical device.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein transmitting the reminder comprises transmitting a triggering signal configured to enable a reminder.
10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the reminder is stored on the medical device.
11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the medical device maintenance schedule is stored in a database of medical device maintenance schedules on the computing system.
12 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising storing a time value associated with the medical device on the computing system.
13 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising transmitting maintenance data to the medical device.
14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the maintenance data includes configuration parameters for the medical device.
15 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the maintenance data includes updated operational software.
16 . A system for managing a medical device maintenance schedule, the system comprising:
a medical device;
a computing system communicatively connected to the medical device, the computing system comprising:
a memory configured to store a medical device maintenance schedule, the medical device maintenance schedule including at least one reminder:
a programmable circuit operatively connected to the memory, the programmable circuit configured to execute program instructions to:
store the medical device maintenance schedule; and
transmit the reminder from the computing system to the medical device.
17 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the medical device is a medical infusion pump.
18 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the computing system is a medical device server communicatively connected to the medical device.
19 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the programmable circuit is programmed to transmit the reminder occurs in response to communication from the medical device to the computing system.
20 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the medical device is configured to display the reminder.
21 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the programmable circuit is further programmed to display the reminder on the computing system.
22 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the medical device is configured to continue operation after receiving the reminder.
23 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the programmable circuit is programmed to store a time value of the medical device on the computing system.
24 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the programmable circuit is programmed to transmit the reminder a predetermined time before required maintenance of the medical device.
25 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the programmable circuit is programmed to transmit the reminder by transmitting a triggering signal configured to enable a reminder stored on the medical device.
26 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the reminder disables the medical device.
27 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the programmable circuit is further programmed to transmit maintenance data to the medical device.
28 . The system of claim 27 , wherein the maintenance data includes configuration parameters for the medical device.
29 . The system of claim 27 , wherein the maintenance data includes updated operational software.
30 . A system for managing a medical device maintenance schedule, the system comprising:
a plurality of medical devices;
a computing system communicatively connected to the plurality of medical devices, the computing system comprising:
a memory configured to store medical device maintenance schedules corresponding to each of the medical devices, the medical device maintenance schedules each including at least one reminder:
a programmable circuit operatively connected to the memory, the programmable circuit configured to execute program instructions to:
store the medical device maintenance schedules;
store one or more time values of the plurality of medical devices;
select a medical device to transmit a reminder from a medical device maintenance schedule corresponding to the medical device; and
transmit a reminder from the computing system to the medical device.
31 . A method of scheduling maintenance of a medical device, the method comprising:
receiving a reminder at a medical device from a medical device server, the reminder related to a maintenance event of the medical device; and
displaying the reminder on a display of the medical device.
32 . The method of claim 31 , wherein the medical device is a medical infusion pump.
33 . The method of claim 31 , wherein the reminder disables the medical device.
34 . The method of claim 31 , wherein the medical device is configured to continue operation after receiving the reminder.
35 . The method of claim 31 , further comprising receiving maintenance data from the medical device server.
36 . The method of claim 35 , wherein the maintenance data includes updated operational software.
