Abstract

Disclosed are fluorescent dye compounds of Formula (I): wherein R 1 , R 2 , and G are as described herein. The fluorescent dyes are suitable for use in luminescent solar collectors or as a colorant. Methods of making the fluorescent dyes and luminescent solar collectors comprising them are also described.

Claims (9)

1. A fluorescent dye having the structure of Formula (III):

2. A fluorescent dye of Formula (I):

wherein R 1 and R 2 are independently selected from branched C 6 -C 18 alkyl; and each G is independently selected from Formulas (Ia) and (Ib):

wherein each R 3 is independently selected from C 8 -C 12 alkyl; m represents the number of substituents and is an integer from 1 to 5; each R 4 is independently selected from C 1 -C 12 alkyl, C 6 -C 20 aromatic, and C 6 -C 20 cycloalkyl; n represents the number of substituents and is an integer from 0 to 5; and A is selected from a bond, C 1 -C 12 alkyl, C 6 -C 20 aromatic, and C 6 -C 20 cycloalkyl; and

wherein the four G groups are the same and are selected from the group consisting of:

3. A fluorescent dye of Formula (I):

wherein R 1 and R 2 are independently selected from branched C 6 -C 18 alkyl; and each G is independently selected from Formulas (Ia) and (Ib):

wherein each R 3 is independently selected from C 8 -C 12 alkyl; m represents the number of substituents and is an integer from 1 to 5; each R 4 is independently selected from C 1 -C 12 alkyl, C 6 -C 20 aromatic, and C 6 -C 20 cycloalkyl; n represents the number of substituents and is an integer from 0 to 5; and A is selected from a bond, C 1 -C 12 alkyl, C 6 -C 20 aromatic, and C 6 -C 20 cycloalkyl; and

wherein at least one G group is Formula (Ib).
