Information processing apparatus and cellular phone terminal

1. An information processing apparatus comprising:

a display unit displaying information on a display screen;

an operation unit including a text input key; and

a control unit,

wherein the control unit

responds to a user's numeric input operation from the operation unit to change an initial screen which does not provide a text input area to a screen which provides a text input area and causes the display of text in the text input area,

shows a first operation key which operates a specific application using text and a second operation key which shows an application candidate in response to the user's selection,

starts up the application in accordance with the user's selection against the first operation key or the application candidate, and

executes the application, using the text inputted from the operation unit,

wherein the first operation key and the application candidate are selected in accordance with the text inputted from the operation unit.

2. A cellular phone terminal comprising:

a display unit displaying information on a display screen;

an operation unit using a numeric keypad as a text input key; and

a control unit,

wherein the control unit

responds to a user's numeric input operation from the operation unit to change an initial screen which does not provide a text input area to a screen which provides a text input area and causes the display of text in the text input area,

shows a first operation key which operates a specific application using text and a second operation key which shows an application candidate in response to the user's selection,

starts up the application in accordance with the user's selection against the first operation key or the application candidate, and

executes the application, using information inputted from the operation unit,

wherein the first operation key and the application candidate are selected in accordance with the text inputted from the operation unit.

3. The cellular phone terminal according to claim 2 ,

wherein: there are provided the text input area for displaying input information as text and a numeric input area for displaying input information as a numeral; and

the control unit determines based on a predetermined condition whether input is numeric input or text input, activates either the text input area or the numeric input area based on a determination result, and uses, for the application, information inputted in an activated input area at start-up of the application.

4. The cellular phone terminal according to claim 3 , wherein information as to which of the text input area or the numeric input area is currently active is indicated on the display screen to the user.

5. The cellular phone terminal according to claim 3 , wherein the control unit switches between text input and numeric input in accordance with the user's instruction operation, regardless of the determination result.

6. The cellular phone terminal according to claim 3 , wherein the predetermined condition determines that numeric input is performed if the numeric keypad is operated a predetermined number of times or more in a row.

7. The cellular phone terminal according to claim 3 , wherein the control unit accepts designation of the use application in accordance with an operation of a direct key of the operation unit.

8. The cellular phone terminal according to claim 3 , wherein the control unit displays a menu including a choice of the use application and accepts designation of the application from the menu.

9. An information processing apparatus comprising:

a display unit displaying information on a display screen;

an operation unit including a text input key; and

a control unit,

wherein the control unit

responds to a user's numeric input operation from the operation unit to change an initial screen which does not provide a text input area to a screen which provides a text input area and causes the display of text in the text input area,

shows a first operation key which operates a specific application using text and a second operation key which shows an application candidate in response to the user's selection,

starts up an application selected by the user in accordance with the user's selection against the first operation key or the application candidate, and

executes the selected application, using the text inputted from the operation unit,

wherein the first operation key and the application candidate are selected in accordance with the text inputted from the operation unit.

10. The information processing apparatus according to claim 9 ,

wherein the selected application is selected by the user from a menu listing the plurality of applications, the menu being opened by the user by operating a first direct key of the operation unit.

11. The information processing apparatus according to claim 9 ,

wherein the selected application is selected by the user by operating a second direct key of the operation unit.

12. The information processing apparatus according to claim 9 ,

wherein the plurality of applications include email creation, web search, online dictionary, notepad storage, blog transmission, content search.
