Abstract

Computer based methods, systems and software for selecting service providers for a consumer are presented in which pangenetic (genetic and epigenetic) features of the consumer are correlated with pangenetic based data profiles of candidate providers, and the most appropriate providers for the consumer are selected or ranked based on the results of the correlation. Non-pangenetic features of the consumer, as well as preferred service provider features such as location, pricing and satisfaction rating, can be used in conjunction with the pangenetic correlation to determine the most appropriate service providers for the consumer. Data masking is used to maintain privacy of sensitive portions of the pangenetic data.

Claims (43)

1 . A computer based method for selecting service providers, comprising:

a) receiving a request for service provider selection for a consumer;

b) accessing pangenetic data associated with the consumer in accordance with at least one pangenetic data mask;

c) correlating the pangenetic data associated with the consumer with a pangenetic based profile corresponding to a service provider; and

d) transmitting an indication that the service provider is selected for the consumer if the result of the correlation exceeds a predetermined threshold.

2 . The computer based method of claim 1 , wherein the transmitting in step (d) is to at least one destination selected from the group consisting of a user, a database, a dataset, a computer readable memory, a computer readable medium, a computer processor, a computer network, a printout device, a visual display, and a wireless receiver.

3 . The computer based method of claim 1 , wherein the indication that the service provider is selected for the consumer constitutes an insurer based approval of the service provider for the consumer.

4 . The computer based method of claim 1 , further comprising:

e) repeating steps (c)-(d) for a plurality of pangenetic based profiles corresponding to a plurality of service providers.

5 . The computer based method of claim 4 , wherein each pangenetic based profile contains at least one measure of success associated with the corresponding service provider, further comprising:

f) tabulating the service providers indicated as being selected for the consumer as a rank listing of service providers, wherein the rank of each of the service providers is based on the at least one measure of success and the result of the correlation with respect to each of the pangenetic based profiles corresponding to the service providers.

6 . The computer based method of claim 1 , wherein correlating in step (c) comprises identifying the amount and type of pangenetic data in the pangenetic based profile that is equivalent to pangenetic data associated with the consumer to determine the degree of correlation.

7 . The computer based method of claim 1 , wherein correlating in step (c) comprises identifying pangenetic data in the pangenetic based profile that is equivalent to pangenetic data associated with the consumer.

8 . The computer based method of claim 7 , wherein pangenetic data are identified as being equivalent if they are identical.

9 . The computer based method of claim 7 , wherein pangenetic data are identified as being equivalent if the pangenetic data are pangenetic features known to be statistically associated with a same outcome with respect to the service provider.

10 . The computer based method of claim 7 , wherein pangenetic data are identified as being equivalent if the pangenetic data differ with respect to one or more silent pangenetic variations.

11 . The computer based method of claim 7 , wherein step (d) further comprises transmitting at least a portion of the pangenetic data identified as being equivalent.

12 . The computer based method of claim 1 , wherein the pangenetic data are selected from the group consisting of single nucleotide polymorphisms, nucleotides, base pairs, nucleotide sequences, gene sequences, genomic sequences, gene mutations, epigenetic modifications, epigenetic sequence patterns, and pangenetic based disorders, traits and conditions.

13 . The computer based method of claim 1 , wherein the identity of the consumer is masked or anonymized.

14 . The computer based method of claim 1 , wherein step (a) further comprises receiving non-pangenetic data associated with the consumer, and wherein step (c) further comprises correlating the non-pangenetic data associated with the consumer with non-pangenetic data associated with the service provider.

15 . The computer based method of claim 1 , wherein the pangenetic data associated with the consumer is accessed through at least one data source selected from the group consisting of an electronic medical record, an electronic health record, and a personal health record.

16 . The computer based method of claim 1 , wherein the service provider is selected from the group consisting of a healthcare provider and a healthcare establishment.

17 . The computer based method of claim 1 , wherein the indication that the service provider is selected for the consumer is used to generate a request for payment approval.

18 . The computer based method of claim 1 , wherein the indication that the service provider is selected for the consumer is used to generate a notification of payment approval.

19 . The computer based method of claim 1 , wherein the indication that the service provider is selected for the consumer is used to generate an insurance claim.

20 . The computer based method of claim 1 , wherein the indication that the service provider is selected for the consumer is used to generate a financial transaction.

21 . A program storage device readable by a machine and containing a set of instructions which, when read by the machine, causes execution of a method for selecting service providers, comprising:

a) receiving a request for service provider selection for a consumer;

b) accessing pangenetic data associated with the consumer in accordance with at least one pangenetic data mask;

c) correlating the pangenetic data associated with the consumer with a pangenetic based profile corresponding to a service provider; and

d) transmitting an indication that the service provider is selected for the consumer if the result of the correlation exceeds a predetermined threshold.

22 . A computer based method for selecting service providers, comprising:

a) receiving a request for service provider selection for a consumer;

b) accessing pangenetic data associated with the consumer in accordance with at least one pangenetic data mask;

c) correlating the pangenetic data with at least two pangenetic based profiles corresponding to at least two service providers; and

d) transmitting a tabulation of service providers corresponding to pangenetic based profiles whose correlation with the pangenetic data exceeds a predetermined threshold.

23 . The computer based method of claim 22 , wherein the service providers are selected from the group consisting of healthcare providers, non-healthcare providers, healthcare establishments, and non-healthcare establishments.

24 . A computer based method for selecting service providers, comprising:

a) receiving a request for service provider selection for a consumer;

b) accessing pangenetic data associated with the consumer in accordance with at least one pangenetic data mask;

c) determining whether pangenetic data contained in each of a plurality of pangenetic based profiles, corresponding to a plurality of service providers, are equivalent to at least a portion of the pangenetic data associated with the consumer; and

d) transmitting output which indicates service providers that are a match for the consumer, wherein the service providers that are a match for the consumer correspond to a subset of the plurality of pangenetic based profiles which contain pangenetic data that was determined to be equivalent to at least a portion of the pangenetic data associated with the consumer.

25 . The computer based method of claim 24 , wherein the service providers are selected from the group consisting of healthcare providers, non-healthcare providers, healthcare establishments, and non-healthcare establishments.
