Abstract

Double-sided adhesive tape for affixing large sheetlike structures for the purposes of transit protection and/or assembly protection to substrates such as an automotive finish, consisting of a first adhesive side A comprising an adhesive A with a coatweight of greater than 10 g/m 2 and a bond strength of at least 0.2 N/cm and of a second adhesive side B comprising an adhesive B having a melting point greater than 50° C., at least one of the adhesives, A or B, being self-adhesive and suitable for reversible bonding.

Claims (16)

. A double-sided adhesive tape for affixing large sheetlike structures for the purposes of transit protection and/or assembly protection to substrates such as an automotive finish, comprising a first adhesive side A comprising an adhesive A with a coatweight of greater than 10 g/m2 and a bond strength of at least 0.2 N/cm and of a second adhesive side B comprising an adhesive B having a melting point greater than 50° C., wherein at least one of the adhesives, A or B, being self-adhesive and suitable for reversible bonding.

. The adhesive tape according to claim 1 , wherein adhesive A is different from adhesive B.

. The adhesive tape according to claim 1 wherein adhesive A comprises polymers selected from the group consisting of acrylates, natural or synthetic rubbers, vinyl-containing polymers and their derivatives and mixtures thereof.

. The adhesive tape according to claim 1 further comprising a film backing based on a polyolefin or compounded formulations thereof.

. The adhesive tape according to claim 1 wherein the adhesive tape is perforated or tearable in cross direction.

. The adhesive tape according to claim 1 wherein at least one of the adhesives, A or B, has been coated in a solvent-free process.

. The adhesive tape according to claim 1 wherein the basis weight of the adhesive tape is less than 300 g/m2, the coatweight of adhesive A being between 12 and 80 g/m2 and the coatweight of adhesive B being between 15 and 80 g/m2.

. Double-sided adhesive tape for affixing large sheetlike structures for the purpose of transit and/or assembly protection to substrates such as an automotive finish, of comprising a first adhesive side A comprising an adhesive A which comprises isobutyl rubber or derivatives or blends thereof and of a second adhesive side B comprising an adhesive B which is based on polymers obtained from the polymerization of acrylic acid and derivatives thereof.

. The adhesive tape according to claim 10 , comprising a backing made of woven fabric and having a thickness of 40 to 300 pm.

. (canceled)

. The adhesive tape according to claim 3 wherein the natural or synthetic rubbers are based on block copolymers.

. The adhesive tape according to claim 13 wherein the block copolymers are based on styrene or isobutyl rubber.

. The adhesive tape according to claim 3 wherein the vinyl containing polymers are ethyl vinyl acetate.

. The adhesive tape according to claim 4 wherein the film backing has a thickness of 7 to 100 μm.
