Abstract

The invention provides isolated polypeptide and nucleic acid sequences derived from Staphylococcus epidermidis that are useful in diagnosis and therapy of pathological conditions; antibodies against the polypeptides; and methods for the production of the polypeptides. The invention also provides methods for the detection, prevention and treatment of pathological conditions resulting from bacterial infection.

Claims (11)

1. An isolated polypeptide comprising SEQ ID NO: 5314.

2. An isolated polypeptide consisting of SEQ ID NO.: 5314.

3. An immunogenic composition comprising an effective amount of an isolated polypeptide of claim 1 .

4. The immunogenic composition of claim 3 , further comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

5. The immunogenic composition of claim 4 , wherein the pharmaceutically acceptable carrier is an adjuvant.

6. A recombinant or substantially pure preparation of a Staphylococcus epidermidis polypeptide comprising SEQ ID NO: 5314.

7. An immunogenic composition comprising an effective amount of S. epidermidis polypeptide of claim 6 .

8. The immunogenic composition of claim 7 , further comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

9. The immunogenic composition of claim 8 , wherein the pharmaceutically acceptable carrier is an adjuvant.

10. A method of inducing an immune response comprising administering to a subject the immunogenic composition of claim 3 .

11. A method of inducing an immune response comprising administering to said subject the immunogenic composition of claim 7 .
