Abstract

Provided is a pen-shaped modular camera assembly having a plurality of modules each with at least one connector to link the modules together. The assembly includes a camera module having an image sensor for capturing an image in an RGB (red, green, blue) color space, as well as a central processing module arranged in communication with the camera module. The central processing module has a central processor that includes a RISC processor core and a memory for storing operating instructions to operate the camera module and image data for manipulation by the processor core. The assembly also includes a serial bus interface for communicating with the camera module, the printer module and the dispenser module.

Claims (9)

1. A pen-shaped modular camera assembly having a plurality of modules each with at least one connector to link the modules together, said assembly comprising:

a camera module having an image sensor for capturing an image in an RGB (red, green, blue) color space;

a central processing module arranged in communication with the camera module, the central processing module having a central processor that includes a RISC processor core and a memory for storing operating instructions to operate the camera module and image data for manipulation by the processor core; and

a serial bus interface for communicating with the camera module, a printer module and a print media dispenser module.

2. The pen-shaped modular camera assembly of claim 1 , further comprising an image processing module configured to dynamically convert the stored image from a L*a*b* color space to a CMY (cyan, magenta, yellow) color space.

3. The pen-shaped modular camera assembly of claim 1 , wherein the RISC processor core includes a digital signal processor (DSP) to facilitate integer multiplication.

4. The pen-shaped modular camera assembly of claim 1 , wherein an operating frequency of the RISC core is a multiple of an operating frequency of the serial bus interface.

5. The pen-shaped modular camera assembly of claim 1 , which includes a parallel interface operatively arranging the processor core in signal communication with a user interface control and display portions of the assembly.

6. The pen-shaped modular camera assembly of claim 1 , wherein the memory includes instructions whereby the central processor is operatively configured to apply one or more visual effects to an image captured by the camera module prior to said image being printed by the printer module.
