Abstract

A method of distributing a prefabricated structure comprises providing a prefabricated structure for use at a first site. The prefabricated structure includes a shell with a shell frame, a plurality of wall panels mated with the shell frame, and a plurality of floor panels mated with the shell frame. The prefabricated structure further includes an extension deployable from the shell. The extension includes an extension frame, a plurality of wall panels mated with the extension frame, and a plurality of floor panels mateable with the extension frame upon deployment. The method of distributing a prefabricated structure further comprises recovering the prefabricated structure from the site, refurbishing the prefabricated structure, and providing the prefabricated structure to a second site.

Claims (99)

1 . A method of distributing a prefabricated structure comprising:

providing a prefabricated structure for use at a first site, the prefabricated structure including:

a shell with a shell frame, a plurality of wall panels mated with the shell frame, and a plurality of floor panels mated with the shell frame, and

an extension deployable from the shell and including an extension frame, a plurality of wall panels mated with the extension frame, and a plurality of floor panels mateable with the extension frame upon deployment;

recovering the prefabricated structure from the site;

refurbishing the prefabricated structure; and

providing the prefabricated structure to a second site.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein refurbishing the prefabricated structure includes:

replacing one or more of the plurality of wall panels of the prefabricated structure; and

replacing one or more of the plurality of floor panels of the prefabricated structure.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein recovering the prefabricated structure includes collapsing the prefabricated structure so that the extension is nested within the shell.

4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the prefabricated structure includes:

a grey water tank connected with the shell frame;

a supply water tank connected with the shell frame; and

an electrical system connected between the extension and the shell; and

recovering the prefabricated structure includes

draining the grey water tank; and

draining the supply water tank; and before the step of collapsing the prefabricated structure:

disconnecting the electrical system between the extension and the shell.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the shell and extension are supported by support posts, and wherein recovering the prefabricated structure further comprises:

retracting the support posts of the extension into the extension;

nesting the extension within the shell;

retracting a first set of supports posts of the shell into the shell;

joining a first set of rollers to the shell;

urging a transport surface so that the set of roller is positioned on the transport surface; and

repeatedly performing the following steps until the prefabricated structure is completely supported by the transport surface:

retracting an additional set of support posts of the shell into the shell,

joining an additional set of roller to the shell, and

urging the transport surface so that the additional set of rollers is positioned on the transport surface.

6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the prefabricated structure includes:

a grey water tank connected with the shell frame;

a supply water tank connected with the shell frame; and

an electrical system connected between the extension and the shell; and

recovering the prefabricated structure includes

draining the grey water tank; and

draining the supply water tank; and before the step of nesting the prefabricated structure:

disconnecting the electrical system between the extension and the shell.

7 . A method of distributing a prefabricated structure comprising:

recovering a prefabricated structure from a first site, the prefabricated structure including:

a shell including a shell frame supported by support posts, a plurality of wall panels mated with the shell frame, and a plurality of floor panels mated with the shell frame, and

an extension including an extension frame supported by support posts, a plurality of wall panels mated with the extension frame, and a plurality of floor panels mated with the extension frame upon deployment,

wherein recovering the prefabricated structure includes:

retracting support posts of the extension into the extension;

collapsing the floor panels of the extension;

nesting the extension within the shell; and

retracting supports posts of the shell into the shell;

refurbishing the prefabricated structure; and

providing the prefabricated structure to a second site.

8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein recovering the prefabricated structure further includes:

retracting a first set of supports posts of the shell into the shell;

joining a first set of rollers to the shell;

urging a transport surface so that the set of roller is positioned on the transport surface; and

repeatedly performing the following steps until the prefabricated structure is completely supported by the transport surface:

retracting an additional set of support posts of the shell into the shell,

joining an additional set of roller to the shell, and

urging the transport surface so that the additional set of rollers is positioned on the transport surface.

9 . The method of claim 7 , wherein refurbishing the prefabricated structure includes:

replacing one or more of the plurality of wall panels of the prefabricated structure; and

replacing one or more of the plurality of floor panels of the prefabricated structure.

10 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the prefabricated structure includes:

a grey water tank connected with the shell frame;

a supply water tank connected with the shell frame; and

an electrical system connected between the extension and the shell; and

recovering the prefabricated structure includes

draining the grey water tank; and

draining the supply water tank; and before the step of collapsing the prefabricated structure:

disconnecting the electrical system between the extension and the shell.

11 . A method of distributing a prefabricated structure comprising:

recovering a prefabricated structure from a first site, the prefabricated structure including:

a shell including a shell frame supported by support posts, a plurality of wall panels mated with the shell frame, and a plurality of floor panels mated with the shell frame,

an extension including an extension frame supported by support posts, a plurality of wall panels mated with the extension frame, and a plurality of floor panels mated with the extension frame upon deployment,

a grey water tank connected with the shell frame, and

a supply water tank connected with the shell frame;

refurbishing the prefabricated structure; and

providing the prefabricated structure to a second site.

12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein refurbishing the prefabricated structure includes:

replacing one or more of the plurality of wall panels of the prefabricated structure; and

replacing one or more of the plurality of floor panels of the prefabricated structure.

13 . The method of claim 11 , wherein refurbishing the prefabricated structure includes:

replacing the grey water tank of the prefabricated structure; and

replacing the supply water tank of the prefabricated structure.

14 . The method of claim 11 , wherein recovering the prefabricated structure includes:

retracting support posts of the extension into the extension;

collapsing the floor panels of the extension;

nesting the extension within the shell; and

retracting supports posts of the shell into the shell.

15 . The method of claim 14 , wherein recovering the prefabricated structure further includes:

retracting a first set of supports posts of the shell into the shell;

joining a first set of rollers to the shell;

urging a transport surface so that the set of roller is positioned on the transport surface; and

repeatedly performing the following steps until the prefabricated structure is completely supported by the transport surface:

retracting an additional set of support posts of the shell into the shell,
