Abstract

A system, method, and computer readable medium for terminating a call in a network system are provided. A femtocell system receives a notification to terminate a call that includes a user equipment serviced by the femtocell system. The femtocell system conveys a clear command to a base transceiver station of the femtocell system, transmits a release message to the user equipment, receives a clear completion message, and deletes a connection allocated for the call.

Claims (38)

1. A method of terminating a call in a network system, comprising:

receiving, by an integral femtocell unit comprising a base transceiver station, a transcoder and a Session Initiation Protocol to Internet Operating System adapter, the base transceiver station, transcoder and Session Initiation Protocol to Internet Operating System adapter all housed within a unitary housing, a notification to terminate the call, wherein the call includes a user equipment serviced by the femtocell unit;

conveying, by the femtocell unit, a clear command to the base transceiver station of the femtocell unit;

transmitting, by the femtocell unit, a release message to the user equipment;

receiving, by the femtocell unit, a clear completion message; and

deleting a connection within the femtocell unit allocated for the call;

wherein deleting a connection allocated for the call comprises transmitting, by the Session Initiation Protocol to Internet Operating System adapter, a delete connection message to the transcoder of the femtocell unit.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving a notification to terminate the call comprises receiving a mobile release message from the user equipment.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein receiving a mobile release message comprises receiving the mobile release message by the base transceiver station.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving a notification to terminate the call comprises receiving a termination request from an Internet Protocol Multimedia subsystem.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein receiving the termination request comprises receiving a Session Initiation Protocol BYE message.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising releasing, by the transcoder, at least one port allocated for the call.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving a notification to terminate the call comprises receiving a mobile release message from the user equipment, the method further comprising:

transmitting, by the base transceiver station, a clear request to a Session Initiation Protocol to Internet Operating System adapter of the femtocell unit; and

transmitting, by the Session Initiation Protocol to Internet Operating System adapter, a Session Initiation Protocol BYE message to an Internet Protocol Multimedia subsystem.

8. A non-transitory computer-readable medium having computer-executable instructions for execution by a processing system of a femtocell unit comprising a base transceiver station and a transcoder, the computer-executable instructions for terminating a call in a network system, the base transceiver station, transcoder and Session Initiation Protocol to Internet Operating System adapter all housed within a unitary housing, the computer-readable medium comprising instructions that:

receive a notification to terminate the call, wherein the call includes a user equipment serviced by the femtocell system;

convey a clear command to the base transceiver station of the femtocell unit;

transmit a release message to the user equipment;

receive a clear completion message;

delete a connection allocated for the call; and

release a port allocated for the call at the transcoder of the femtocell unit.

9. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions that receive a notification to terminate the call comprise instructions that receive a mobile release message from the user equipment.

10. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the instructions that receive a mobile release message comprise instructions that receive the mobile release message by the base transceiver station.

11. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions that receive a notification to terminate the call comprise instructions that receive a termination request from an Internet Protocol Multimedia subsystem.

12. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the instructions that receive the termination request comprise instructions that receive a Session Initiation Protocol BYE message.

13. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions that delete a connection allocated for the call comprise instructions that transmit a delete connection message to the transcoder of the femtocell unit.

14. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions that receive a notification to terminate the call comprise instructions that receive a mobile release message from the user equipment, the computer-readable medium further comprising instructions that:

transmit a clear request to a Session Initiation Protocol to Internet Operating System adapter of the femtocell unit; and

transmit a Session Initiation Protocol BYE message to an Internet Protocol Multimedia subsystem.

15. A system configured for terminating a call in a network system, comprising:

a packet-switched network;

an Internet Protocol Multimedia subsystem communicatively coupled with the packet-switched network; and

a femtocell unit communicatively coupled with the packet-switched network, wherein the femtocell unit includes a base transceiver station, a transcoder, and a Session Initiation Protocol to Internet Operating System adapter, the base transceiver station, transcoder and Session Initiation Protocol to Internet Operating System adapter all housed within a unitary housing, wherein the femtocell system receives a notification to terminate the call, wherein the call includes a user equipment serviced by the femtocell unit, wherein the Session Initiation Protocol to Internet Operating System adapter conveys a clear command to the base transceiver station, the base transceiver station transmits a release message to the user equipment and a clear completion message to the Session Initiation Protocol to Internet Operating System adapter, and wherein the transcoder deletes a connection allocated for the call and releases a port allocated for the call.

16. The system of claim 15 , wherein the notification to terminate the call comprises a mobile release message transmitted from the user equipment and is received by the base transceiver station.

17. The system of claim 15 , wherein the notification to terminate the call comprises a termination request transmitted from the Internet Protocol Multimedia subsystem.

18. The system of claim 15 , wherein the termination request comprises a Session Initiation Protocol BYE message.

19. The system of claim 15 , wherein the base transceiver station transmits a clear request to the Session Initiation Protocol to Internet Operating System adapter, and wherein the Session Initiation Protocol to Internet Operating System adapter transmits a Session Initiation Protocol BYE message to the Internet Protocol Multimedia subsystem.
