Abstract

A method is provided in which dot data is supplied to an inkjet printhead so that each inkjet nozzle of at least one pair of inkjet nozzles of the printhead which are configurable to print a dot of the same colored ink onto a substantially same position on a print medium are controlled to print dots to a same specific line of printing on the print medium associated with said at least one pair of nozzles.

Claims (11)

1 . A method of printing with an inkjet printhead comprising supplying dot data to the inkjet printhead so that each inkjet nozzle of at least one pair of inkjet nozzles of the printhead which are configurable to print a dot of the same colored ink onto a substantially same position on a print medium are controlled to print dots to a same specific line of printing on the print medium associated with said at least one pair of nozzles.

2 . A method as claimed in claim 1 , comprising supplying the dot data so that each nozzle of each pair of nozzles prints about half the dots in the respective line.

3 . A method as claimed in claim 1 , comprising supplying the dot data so that the nozzles of the each pair of nozzles print alternate dots in the respective line.

4 . A method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the printhead is a stationary pagewidth printhead and the print medium is fed transversely past the printhead

5 . A method as claimed in claim 4 , wherein the printhead comprises a plurality of transversely aligned color channels, each color channel comprising at least one nozzle row extending longitudinally along the printhead, each nozzle in a color channel ejecting the same colored ink.

6 . A method as claimed in claim 5 , wherein each color channel comprises a pair of nozzle rows.

7 . A method as claimed in claim 6 , wherein said pairs of nozzle rows are transversely offset from each other.

8 . A method as claimed in claim 5 , wherein the nozzles of each pair of nozzles are contained in different ones of the color channels.

9 . A method as claimed in claim 5 , wherein at least one nozzle row has a different peak power requirement for firing nozzles than other nozzle rows.

10 . A method as claimed in claim 1 , comprising supplying the dot data so that a peak power requirement for said printhead is modulated.

11 . A method as claimed in claim 10 , wherein said peak power requirement is reduced by about 50% for printing each line, compared to printing each line using only one nozzle of each nozzle pair.
