PRINTHEAD CAPPING ARRANGEMENT WITH PIVOTABLE SHAFT MOUNTS
An inkjet printer comprises an elongate shaft adapted to rotate so as to move a capper for capping a pagewidth printhead out of and into capping position; a motor for driving the elongate shaft; a support frame; and first and second fixing plates mounted to the support frame. The first and second fixing plates each include first and second bearings for supporting the shaft at first and second longitudinal ends of the shaft so as to allow rotation of the shaft. The first and second bearings are configured to allow pivotal movement of the elongate shaft about first and second longitudinal ends thereof. The second fixing plate includes a seat for receiving the motor therein.
1 . An inkjet printer comprising:
an elongate shaft adapted to rotate so as to move a capper for capping a pagewidth printhead out of and into capping position;
a motor for driving the elongate shaft;
a support frame; and
first and second fixing plates mounted to the support frame, the first and second fixing plates each including first and second bearings for supporting the shaft at first and second longitudinal ends of the shaft so as to allow rotation of the shaft, wherein
the first and second bearings are configured to allow pivotal movement of the elongate shaft about first and second longitudinal ends thereof, and
the second fixing plate includes a seat for receiving the motor therein.
2 . The inkjet printer according to claim 1 , wherein the support frame has a slot through which the first longitudinal end of the shaft passes so as to engage with the first bearing of the fixing plate.
3 . The inkjet printer according to claim 2 , wherein the seat is positioned and configured such that a worm gear connected to the motor received therein is mechanically coupled to a coded gear attached to the elongate shaft.
4 . The inkjet printer according to claim 1 , wherein the first and second fixing plates are made of moulded plastic.
5 . The inkjet printer according to claim 4 , wherein the first and second fixing plates include a plurality of hook features, the hook features adapted to snap fit into corresponding slots of the support frame, thereby securing the first and second fixing plates to the support frame.
