program instructions, stored on at least one of the one or more storage devices to use the extracted search key value to search a trusted administered contact list for a corresponding trusted value, wherein the contact list is designated as trusted and administered by the device with which the local contact list is associated as containing accurate and verified contact information; and

program instructions, stored on at least one of the one or more storage devices to modify the local contact record to include the corresponding trusted value.

2. The computer program product as set forth in claim 1 wherein the program instructions to access the local contact list comprise program instructions to access a text file.

3. The computer program product as set forth in claim 1 wherein the program instructions to access the local contact list comprise program instructions to access a database file.

4. The computer program product as set forth in claim 1 wherein the program instructions to access the local contact list comprise program instructions to access an online address book file.

5. The computer program product as set forth in claim 1 wherein the program instructions to use the search key value to retrieve from a trusted administered contact list comprise program instructions to access a corporate personnel information database.

6. The computer program product as set forth in claim 1 wherein the program instructions to use the search key value to retrieve from a trusted administered contact list comprise program instructions to access an electronic telephone directory.

7. The computer program product as set forth in claim 1 wherein the program instructions to use the search key value to retrieve from a trusted administered contact list comprise program instructions to access an electronic members directory.

8. The computer program product as set forth in claim 1 wherein the program instructions to modify the contact record comprise program instructions to add a telephone number to the retrieved contact record.

9. The computer program product as set forth in claim 1 wherein the computer readable memory device comprises a memory device selected from the group consisting of a random access memory, a read-only memory, a computer tape, and a computer disk.

10. A computer system for real-time chat and conference contact information management comprising:

one or more processors, one or more computer-readable memories and one or more computer-readable, tangible storage devices;

program instructions, stored on at least one of the one or more storage devices for execution by at least one of the one or more processors via at least one of the one or more memories, to, triggered by storing of an identification data item into a contact record of a local contact list during an online communication session, extract a search key value for a data item from the contact record, wherein the online communication session comprises a multiple-participant session selected from the group consisting of an online virtual collaboration session, an online meeting, and an online chat session;

program instructions, stored on at least one of the one or more storage devices for execution by at least one of the one or more processors via at least one of the one or more memories, to use the extracted search key value to search a trusted administered contact list for a corresponding trusted value, wherein the contact list is designated as trusted and administered by the device with which the local contact list is associated as containing accurate and verified contact information; and

program instructions, stored on at least one of the one or more storage devices for execution by at least one of the one or more processors via at least one of the one or more memories, to modify the local contact record to include the corresponding trusted value.

11. The system as set forth in claim 10 wherein the local contact list comprises a text file.

12. The system as set forth in claim 10 wherein the local contact list comprises a database file.

13. The system as set forth in claim 10 wherein the local contact list comprises an online address book file.

14. The system as set forth in claim 10 wherein using the search key value to retrieve from a trusted administered contact list comprises accessing a corporate personnel information database.

15. The system as set forth in claim 10 wherein using the search key value to retrieve from a trusted administered contact list comprises accessing an electronic telephone directory.

16. The system as set forth in claim 10 wherein the searched trusted administered contact list comprises accessing electronic members directory.

17. The system as set forth in claim 10 wherein the modified contact record comprises a telephone number added to the retrieved contact record.
