Cradle unit for a printer cartridge
View Patent ↗A printer cradle unit for a printer cartridge has a body defining an opening for receiving the cartridge. A cover assembly closes the opening and secures the cartridge in an operative position. An ink refill mechanism is arranged on the body to operate a refill unit to refill the cartridge with ink. A roller assembly is arranged on the body and is configured to feed print media from the cartridge.
1. A printer cradle unit for a printer cartridge, the cradle unit comprising:
a body defining an opening for receiving the cartridge;
a cover assembly, with at least one port formed therein through which a refill unit is received, for closing the opening and securing the cartridge in an operative position;
an ink refill mechanism arranged on the body to operate the refill unit to refill the cartridge with ink;
a roller assembly arranged on the body and configured to feed print media past the cartridge; and wherein the body includes a frame structure, the ink refill mechanism and the roller assembly being mounted on the frame structure.
2. A printer cradle unit as claimed in claim 1 , in which the frame structure includes a guide to assist in positioning the cartridge within the cradle unit.
3. A printer cradle unit as claimed in claim 2 , in which the frame structure includes a cartridge support member, which, together with the guide defines a shape that conforms with the cartridge.
4. A printer cradle unit as claimed in claim 1 , in which the cover assembly is pivotally attached to an operatively upper portion of the frame structure such that the cover assembly can pivot between a closed position and an open position.
5. A printer cradle unit as claimed in claim 1 , in which an electromagnet assembly is mounted on the frame structure to actuate a printhead capper assembly of the printer cartridge.
6. A printer cradle unit as claimed in claim 1 , in which the roller assembly includes a drive roller and an exit roller mounted on the frame structure.
