Abstract

An imaging optical system for a camera and a video telephony camera employing the imaging optical system. The imaging optical system includes a stop and a first lens that are sequentially arranged from an object side. The first lens has a positive refractive power and two convex aspherical surfaces and satisfies L B /f>0.88 and L T /L B <1.71 wherein L T is the distance along the optical axis from the stop to the image plane of the imaging optical system, f is the total focal length of the imaging optical system, and L B is the distance along the optical axis between the surface of the first lens facing the image side and the image plane of the imaging optical system.

Claims (59)

1. An imaging optical system for a camera, the system comprising an aperture stop and a first lens that are sequentially arranged from an object side, wherein the first lens has a positive refractive power and two convex aspherical surfaces and satisfies L B /f>0.88 and L T /L B <1.71, wherein L T is the distance along the optical axis from the stop to the image plane of the imaging optical system, f is the total focal length of the imaging optical system, and L B is the distance along the optical axis between the surface of the first lens facing the image side and the image plane of the imaging optical system.

2. The system of claim 1 , satisfying 0.18≦S≦0.2 wherein S denotes the distance along the optical axis between the stop and the surface of the first lens facing the object side.

wherein R1 is the radius of curvature of the surface of the first lens facing the object side and f is the total focal length of the imaging optical system.

7. A video telephony camera comprising an imaging optical system, wherein the imaging optical system comprises a stop and a first lens that are sequentially arranged from an object side, and

wherein the first lens has a positive refractive power and two convex aspherical surfaces and satisfies L B /f>0.88 and L T /L B <1.71 wherein L T is the distance along the optical axis from the stop to the image plane of the imaging optical system, f is the total focal length of the imaging optical system, and L B is the distance along the optical axis between the surface of the first lens facing the image side and the image plane of the imaging optical system.

8. The camera of claim 7 , wherein the imaging optical system satisfies 0.18≦S≦0.2 wherein S denotes the distance along the optical axis between the stop and the surface of the first lens facing the object side.
