Abstract

This invention relates to a bismuth molybdate catalyst, a preparation method thereof, and a method of preparing 1,3-butadiene using the same, and to a bismuth molybdate catalyst, a preparation method thereof, and a method of preparing 1,3-butadiene using the same, in which 1,3-butadiene can be prepared through oxidative dehydrogenation directly using a C4 mixture including n-butene and n-butane as a reactant in the presence of a mixed-phase bismuth molybdate catalyst including α-bismuth molybdate (Bi2Mo3On) and γ-bismuth molybdate (Bi2MoO6). According to this invention, the C4 raffinate, containing many impurities, is used as a reactant, without an additional n-butane separation process, thus obtaining 1,3-butadiene at high yield. Unlike complicated multicomponent-based metal oxides, the catalyst of the invention has simple constituents and synthesis routes, and can be easily formed through physical mixing, and thus is very advantageous in assuring reproducibility and can be directly applied to commercial processes.

Claims (15)

1. A mixed-phase bismuth molybdate catalyst for preparation of 1,3-butadiene, comprising 1 to 40 wt % of α-bismuth molybdate (Bi 2 Mo 3 O 12 ) and 60 to 99 wt % of γ-bismuth molybdate (Bi 2 MoO 6 ).

2. A method of preparing 1,3-butadiene, comprising subjecting a reactant including a C4 mixture to oxidative dehydrogenation in a presence of a mixed-phase bismuth molybdate catalyst comprising 1 to 40 wt % of α-bismuth molybdate (Bi 2 Mo 3 O 12 ) and 60 to 99 wt % of γ-bismuth molybdate (Bi 2 MoO 6 ), thus preparing 1,3-butadiene.

3. The method according to claim 2 , wherein the reactant comprises a C4 mixture including n-butane and n-butene, air, and steam.

4. The method according to claim 2 , wherein the C4 mixture comprises 0.5 to 50 wt % of n-butane, 40 to 99 wt % of n-butene, and 0.5 to 10 wt % of another C4 mixture.

5. The method according to claim 3 , wherein the reactant comprises n-butene:air:steam at a ratio of 1:0.5˜10:1˜50.

6. The method according to claim 2 , wherein the oxidative dehydrogenation is conducted at a reaction temperature of 300˜600° C. and a gas hourly space velocity of 50˜2000 h −1 .

7. A method of preparing a mixed-phase bismuth molybdate catalyst for preparation of 1,3-butadiene, comprising steps of:

a) separately dissolving a bismuth precursor and a molybdenum precursor in distilled water according to a ratio of atomic number of bismuth/molybdenum, mixing them together, and then controlling a pH of the mixed solution;

b) attaining a solid catalyst from the mixed solution having a controlled pH, and then drying the solid catalyst at 70 to 200° C.;

c) thermally treating the dried catalyst at 350 to 800° C., thus obtaining an α-bismuth molybdate catalyst;

d) obtaining a γ-bismuth molybdate (Bi 2 MoO 6 ) catalyst through steps a) to c); and

e) mixing 1 to 40 wt % of the α-bismuth molybdate (Bi 2 Mo 3 O 12 ) catalyst and 60 to 99 wt % of the γ-bismuth molybdate (Bi 2 MoO 6 ) catalyst.

8. The method according to claim 7 , wherein the ratio of the atomic number of bismuth/molybdenum is adjusted to a range from 0.1 to 2, and the pH of the mixed solution is controlled to a range from 0.1 to 5, in step a) for obtaining the α-bismuth molybdate (Bi 2 Mo 3 O 12 ).
