Abstract

This application is directed to a process of identifying a compound capable of modulating activity of a human ENDO180 receptor that comprises the steps of measuring the binding of the ENDO180 receptor to an interactor with which the ENDO180 receptor interacts specifically in vivo, in the absence or presence of a compound, and determining whether the binding of the ENDO180 receptor to the interactor is affected by the compound. This application is also directed to use of a compound identified by that process in the preparation of a medicament for therapy of disease, in particular fibrosis. This application also relates to the use of ENDO180 modulators in treatment of disease.

Claims (10)

1 - 54 . (canceled)

55 . A method comprising contacting a ENDO180 polypeptide receptor on the surface of a cell with an antibody to such polypeptide receptor having conjugated thereto a moiety so as to effect internalization of the antibody within the cell.

56 . A method for the treatment of a subject in need of treatment for a disease comprising administering to said subject an amount of an antibody to ENDO-180 polypeptide receptor on the surface of the cell which antibody is internalized by the cell so as to thereby treat the subject.

57 . A method of claim 56 wherein the antibody has a moiety conjugated thereto.

58 . A method of claim 57 wherein the antibody and moiety are internalized.

59 . A method for the treatment of a subject in need of treatment for a disease wherein the disease is fibrosis associated pathology, cancer, osteoarthritis or osteoporosis comprising administering to said subject an amount of an antagonist to ENDO-180 polypeptide in a therapeutically effective amount so as to thereby treat the subject.

60 . The method of claim 59 wherein the disease is fibrosis associated pathology and is selected from kidney, liver, lung and heart fibrosis, nephropathy, in particular diabetic nephropathy, chronic renal insufficiency, chronic renal failure and glomerulosclerosis.

61 . The method of claim 59 wherein the antagonist is an antibody to ENDO-180 polypeptide.

62 . The method of claim 59 wherein the antagonist is an siRNA corresponding to ENDO-180.

63 . The method of claim 59 wherein the antagonist is an antisense oligonucleotide corresponding to ENDO-180.
