Selective service method in multicast system
A multicast service of a 3GPP Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) is disclosed. A multicast service stream identifier is provided so that each multicast area can receive different information for one service or one multicast service can be provided with different QoSs to areas. In addition, the multicast service stream identifier is provided which can selectively receive diverse menus or channels for one multicast service provided in the same area. Thus, by providing the multicast service stream identifier, users' desires for various services can be satisfied.
1. A method of providing a Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service (MBMS) service, the method comprising:
attaching, at a network, an MBMS service related identifier (ID) to MBMS data; and
transmitting, by the network, the MBMS data and the MBMS service related identifier to a mobile terminal,
wherein the MBMS service related identifier is used to identify a connection for the MBMS service, and
wherein the MBMS service related identifier is used to distinguish between MBMS services.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the network is a UTRAN.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the connection is a multicast and broadcast connection established for the MBMS service.
4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the MBMS service related identifier used for the MBMS service is same for all mobile terminals on same channel that participate in the connection.
5. The method of claim 3 , wherein the connection is a transport connection.
6. A method of receiving a Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service (MBMS) service, the method comprising:
receiving an MBMS data unit comprised of MBMS data and an MBMS service related identifier, wherein the MBMS service related identifier is used to identify a connection for the MBMS service, and wherein the MBMS service related identifier is used to distinguish between MBMS services; and
processing the MBMS data.
7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the network is a UTRAN.
8. The method of claim 6 , wherein the connection is a multicast and broadcast connection established for the MBMS service.
9. The method of claim 6 , wherein the MBMS service related identifier used for the MBMS service is the same for all mobile terminals on the same channel that participates in the connection.
10. The method of claim 8 , wherein the connection is a transport connection.
