Abstract

An imaging device includes: a pixel array part in which a plurality of pixels with different characteristics of spectral sensitivity are arranged in an array and which converts light transmitted through the pixel into an electric signal, wherein in the pixel array part, among a first color filter pixel, a second color filter pixel, and a third color filter pixel, each including a color filter, at least a plurality of the first color filter pixels and the second color filter pixels is arranged in an oblique pixel array system, and a clear pixel having a high transmittance is arranged in an oblique pixel array system at a given position of a given row and a given column in the oblique pixel array with respect to the first color filter pixel, the second color filter pixel, and the third color filter pixel.

Claims (11)

1. An imaging device comprising:

a pixel array part in which a plurality of pixels with different characteristics of spectral sensitivity are arranged in an array and which convert light transmitted through the pixel into an electric signal, said pixel array part comprising a plurality of color pixels of three colors and a plurality of clear pixels of a fourth color,

wherein

the plurality of color pixels comprises (i) color filter pixels of a first color having a peak of spectral sensitivity in red, (ii) color filter pixels of a second color having a peak in blue, and (iii) color filter pixels of a third color having a peak in green,

wherein,

at least a portion of the plurality of color filter pixels is arranged in an oblique pixel array system, said oblique pixel array system having an oblique angle with respect to a vertical direction, and

each of the plurality of clear pixels has a high transmittance and is arranged in the oblique pixel array system at a given position of a given row and a given column with respect to the color filter pixels of the first color, the color filter pixels of the second color, and the color filter pixels of the third color, said given positions being such that one of the following conditions is met:

(i) odd numbered linear columns in the vertical direction and odd numbered linear rows in a horizontal direction are formed entirely of only pixels of a common color, and

(ii) even numbered linear columns in the vertical direction and even numbered linear rows in a horizontal direction are formed entirely of only pixels of a common color.

2. The imaging device according to claim 1 , wherein the pixels of common color are clear pixels of the fourth color.

3. The imaging device according to claim 1 , wherein the clear pixels of the fourth color have a higher transmittance than each of the color filter pixel of the first color, the color filter pixel of the second color, and the third color filter pixel of the third color.
