Abstract

An “operator cloud” is interposed between mobile subscribers and the Internet. The operator cloud aggregates operators so as to comprise a single node. The operator cloud can provide services through such aggregation, including the tracking of subscriber usage. The operator cloud services can produce accurate metrics concerning mobile Web traffic while safeguarding subscriber personal information. Thus, the metrics and associated information can be valuable to publishers in the mobile Web. In this way, the operator cloud services can be monetized to produce a revenue stream.

Claims (14)

1 . A method of providing traffic information for network communications, the method comprising:

receiving a network communication comprising a user request from a user device associated with a subscriber account with an operator, wherein the user request is for content from a publisher and is received at an operator cloud interposed on the network between the operator and the publisher;

accumulating traffic information relating to the user request;

generating metrics relating to the accumulated traffic information; and

providing the generated metrics lacking identification of the user associated with the subscriber account.

2 . The method as in claim 1 , wherein receiving the network communication further includes assigning a request identifier to the received network communication.

3 . The method as in claim 1 , wherein accumulating traffic information comprises encrypting the traffic information.

4 . The method as in claim 1 , further including returning the requested content to the user device in accordance with supplemental content determined in accordance with the generated metrics.

5 . A computer system that provides traffic information for network communications, the system comprising:

interface means for network communication;

a processor of the computer system, configured to receive a network communication comprising a user request from a user device associated with a subscriber account with an operator, wherein the user request is for content from a publisher and is received at the computer system comprising an operator cloud interposed on the network between the operator and the publisher, the processor further configured to accumulate traffic information relating to the user request, generate metrics relating to the accumulated traffic information, and provide the generated metrics lacking identification of the user associated with the subscriber account.

6 . The computer system as in claim 4 , wherein the processor is further configured to assign a request identifier to the received network communication.

7 . The computer system as in claim 4 , wherein the processor is further configured to encrypt the accumulated traffic information.

8 . The computer system as in claim 5 , further comprising returning the requested content to the user device in accordance with supplemental content determined in accordance with the generated metrics.
