Abstract

An organic light emitting device includes a substrate; a first electrode; a second electrode; and an organic layer including an emission layer between the first electrode and the second electrode. The organic layer includes a first intermediate layer including a first host and a first dopant, a second intermediate layer including the first dopant, and a third intermediate layer including a second host and the first dopant interposed between the first electrode and the emission layer. The organic light emitting device has a long lifetime.

Claims (31)

1. An organic light emitting device comprising:

a substrate;

a first electrode;

a second electrode; and

an organic layer comprising an emission layer between the first electrode and the second electrode, and a first intermediate layer, a second intermediate layer and a third intermediate layer interposed between the first electrode and the emission layer, wherein

the first electrode, the first intermediate layer, the second intermediate layer, the third intermediate layer, and the emission layer are sequentially stacked in this order; and

the first intermediate layer comprising a first host material and a first dopant material, the second intermediate layer consisting of the first dopant material, and the third intermediate layer comprising a second host material and the first dopant material; and

the first dopant material is a C 6 -C 30 aromatic compound substituted with at least one group selected from a cyano group and a fluorine group or a C 6 -C 30 heteroaromatic compound substituted with at least one group selected from a cyano group and a fluorine group;

a highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) level of each of the first host material and the second host material is in a range of −5.5±1.0 eV; and

a lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) level of the first dopant material is in a range of −5.5±1.0 eV.

2. The organic light emitting device of claim 1 , wherein the absolute difference between the HOMO level of the first host material and the LUMO level of the first dopant material is in a range of 0 to 0.5 eV.

3. The organic light emitting device of claim 1 , wherein the absolute difference between the HOMO level of the second host material and the LUMO level of the first dopant material is in a range of 0 to 0.5 eV.

4. The organic light emitting device of claim 1 , wherein the first host material and the second host material are each independently a hole transporting material or a hole injecting material.

The organic light emitting device of claim 1 , wherein the first host material and the second host material are each independently a phthalocyanine-based compound, N-phenylcarbazole, polyvinylcarbazole, 4,4′-bis[N-(1-naphthyl)-N-phenylamino]biphenyl (NPB), N,N′-bis(3-methylphenyl)-N,N′-diphenyl-[1,1-biphenyl]-4,4′-diamine (TPD), N,N′-di(naphthalen-1-yl)-N,N′-diphenyl-benzidine (α-NPD), TCTA, m-MTDATA, 1,3,5-tris[4-(3-methylphenylphenylamino)phenyl]benzene (m-MTDAPB), polyaniline/dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid (Pani/DBSA), poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)/poly(4-styrenesulfonate)(PEDOT/PSS), polyaniline/camphor sulfonic acid (Pani/CSA), (polyaniline)/poly (4-styrenesulfonate) (PANI/PSS), or a compound represented by Formula 1:

where X is a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 30 alkylene group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 30 alkenylene group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 30 arylene group, or a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 30 heteroarylene group;

n is an integer of 1 to 5;

R 1 , R 2 , and R 3 are each independently a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, an amino group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 30 alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 30 alkoxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 30 aryl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted C 4 -C 30 heteroaryl group, and wherein at least two of R 1 , R 2 , and R 3 may be combined together to form a saturated or unsaturated ring; and

Ar is a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 30 aryl group or a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 30 heteroaryl group.

6. The organic light emitting device of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first host material and the second host material is a compound represented by Formula 2 below:

where R 1 , R 2 , and R 3 are each independently a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, an amino group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 30 alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 30 alkoxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 30 aryl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted C 4 -C 30 heteroaryl group, and at least two of R 1 , R 2 , and R 3 may be combined to form a saturated or unsaturated ring; and

R is a hydrogen atom, a cyano group, a fluoride, or a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 30 alkyl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 30 aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 4 -C 30 hetero ring, or a substituted or unsubstituted amino group.

7. The organic light emitting device of claim 1 , wherein the first host material and the second host material are identical to each other.

8. The organic light emitting device of claim 1 , wherein each of the first host material and the second host material is Compound 1 or Compound 2:

The organic light emitting device of claim 1 , wherein the first dopant material is a C 6 -C 30 aromatic compound selected from the group consisting of benzene, naphthalene, anthracene, azulene, heptalene, acenaphthylene, fluorene, phenalene, phenanthrene, fluoranthene, triphenylene, pyrene, chrysene, and phenylene, and substituted with at least one cyano group or at least one fluorine atom.

The organic light emitting device of claim 1 , wherein the first dopant material is a C 6 -C 30 heteroaromatic compound selected from the group consisting of pyrazole, imidazole, oxazole, thiazole, triazole, tetrazole, oxadiazole, pyridine, pyridazine, pyrimidine, triazine, carbazole, indole, quinoline, and isoquinoline, and substituted with at least one cyano group or at least one fluorine atom.

11. The organic light emitting device of claim 1 , wherein the first dopant material is Compound 3 or Compound 4:

12. The organic light emitting device of claim 1 , wherein the amount of the first dopant material in the first intermediate layer is in a range of 0.1 parts by weight to 10 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the total weight of the first host material and the first dopant material.

13. The organic light emitting device of claim 1 , wherein the amount of the first dopant material in the third intermediate layer is in a range of 0.1 parts by weight to 10 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the total weight of the second host material and the first dopant material.

14. The organic light emitting device of claim 1 , wherein each of the first intermediate layer and the third intermediate layer has a thickness of 10 Å to 1000 Å.

15. The organic light emitting device of claim 1 , wherein the thickness of the second intermediate layer is in a range of 10 Å to 1000 Å.

16. The organic light emitting device of claim 1 , wherein the organic layer further comprises at least one layer selected from the group consisting of a hole blocking layer, an electron transport layer and an electron injection layer.
