DISPOSABLE INFUSION DEVICE WITH REFILL PREVENTION
A wearable infusion device prevents reservoir refilling. The device includes a base adapted to be adhered to a patient's skin, a reservoir that holds a liquid medicament, and a cannula that delivers liquid medicament from the reservoir to the patient. The device further includes a fill port communicating with the reservoir to permit the reservoir to be provided with the liquid medicament, and a lock-out that prevents the reservoir from being refilled through the fill port after the reservoir has been provided with the liquid medicament.
1 - 16 . (canceled)
17 . A wearable infusion device comprising:
a reservoir that holds a liquid medicament;
an outlet port that delivers the liquid medicament to a patient;
a pump that displaces a volume of the liquid medicament to the outlet port when actuated;
a control that actuates the pump;
a fill port communicating with the reservoir to permit the reservoir to be filled with the liquid medicament; and
a lock-out that prevents the reservoir from being refilled after the reservoir has been filled.
18 . The device of claim 17 , wherein the lock-out blocks the fill port.
19 . The device of claim 17 , wherein the lock-out prevents the reservoir from being refilled after the reservoir has been once filled.
20 . The device of claim 17 , wherein the lock-out is responsive to pressure to prevent the reservoir from being refilled after the reservoir has been filled.
21 . The device of claim 20 , wherein the lock-out is responsive to pressure within the fill port.
22 . The device of claim 20 , further comprising a chamber between the fill port and the reservoir, and wherein the lock-out senses pressure within the chamber.
23 . The device of claim 22 , wherein the lock-out includes a diaphragm for sensing pressure within the chamber.
24 . The device of claim 17 , wherein the lock-out is responsive to the reservoir being at a given level to prevent the reservoir from being refilled.
25 . The device of claim 24 , wherein the lock-out blocks the fill port.
26 . A wearable infusion device comprising:
a base adapted to be adhered to a patient's skin;
a reservoir that holds a liquid medicament;
a cannula that delivers liquid medicament from the reservoir to the patient;
a fill port communicating with the reservoir to permit the reservoir to be provided with the liquid medicament; and
a lock-out that prevents the reservoir from being refilled through the fill port after the reservoir has been provided with the liquid medicament.
27 . The device of claim 26 , wherein the lock-out blocks the fill port.
28 . The device of claim 26 , wherein the lock-out prevents the reservoir from being refilled after the reservoir has once been provided with the liquid medicament.
29 . The device of claim 26 , wherein the lock-out is responsive to pressure to prevent the reservoir from being refilled through the fill port after the reservoir has once been provided with the liquid medicament.
30 . The device of claim 29 , wherein the lock-out is responsive to pressure within the fill port.
31 . The device of claim 29 , further comprising a chamber between the fill port and the reservoir, and wherein the lock-out senses pressure within the chamber.
32 . The device of claim 31 , wherein the lock-out includes a diaphragm for sensing pressure within the chamber.
33 . The device of claim 26 , wherein the lock-out is responsive to the reservoir being at a given level to prevent the reservoir from being refilled.
34 . The device of claim 33 , wherein the lock-out blocks the fill port.
