Abstract

A permanent magnet rotating electric machine comprises a stator having stator windings wound round a stator iron core and a permanent magnet rotor having a plurality of inserted permanent magnets in which the polarity is alternately arranged in the peripheral direction in the rotor iron core. The rotor iron core of the permanent magnets is composed of magnetic pole pieces, auxiliary magnetic poles, and a stator yoke, and furthermore has concavities formed on the air gap face of the magnetic pole pieces of the rotor iron core of the permanent magnets, gently tilting from the central part of the magnetic poles to the end thereof. In a permanent magnet rotating electric machine, effects of iron loss are reduced, and an electric car using highly efficient permanent magnet rotating electric machine are realized.

Claims (21)

1. A permanent magnet rotating electric machine for an electric car, comprising:

a stator;

a rotor having a rotor iron core being arranged opposite said stator with a rotation air gap therebetween;

a plurality of magnetic poles in said rotor iron core;

a plurality of auxiliary magnetic pole portions, each of which is located between a pair of said magnetic poles; and

a plurality of bridge portions, each of which connects a first rotor iron core portion with one of said auxiliary magnetic pole portions,

wherein said magnetic poles have alternating polarity in a rotational direction of said rotor,

wherein each magnetic pole comprises two permanent magnets of common polarity arranged at an angle of less than 180° with respect to one another and opening toward said stator,

wherein a first magnetic gap and a second rotor iron core portion are provided between radially inward ends of said two permanent magnets of common polarity for each magnetic pole,

wherein each of said second rotor iron core portions connects a respective first rotor iron core portion with a third rotor iron core portion,

wherein second magnetic gaps are provided between radially outward ends of each of said two permanent magnets and respective bridge portions, and

wherein said first rotor iron core portions are radially outside each magnetic pole, and said third rotor iron core portions are located radially inside each magnetic pole.

2. The permanent magnet rotating electric machine of claim 1 , further comprising a shaft, wherein a magnetic-pole-position sensor and a shaft position sensor are installed on the shaft.

3. The permanent magnet rotating electric machine of claim 1 , wherein the two permanent magnets of common polarity for each pole are arranged at an angle of greater than 90° with respect to one another and opening toward said stator.

4. The permanent magnet rotating electric machine of claim 1 , wherein the second rotor iron core portion for each magnetic pole has a first sub-portion and a second sub-portion, each of which is equidistant from a rotational center of the rotor.

5. The permanent magnet rotating electric machine of claim 1 , wherein a longitudinal axis of the first magnetic gap for each magnetic pole is arranged at an angle of approximately 45° with respect to each permanent magnet in the respective pole opening toward said stator.

6. The permanent magnet rotating electric machine of claim 1 , wherein a longitudinal axis of the first magnetic gap for each magnetic pole is arranged at an angle of less than 45° with respect to each permanent magnet in the respective pole opening toward said stator.

7. The permanent magnet rotating electric machine of claim 1 , wherein a longitudinal axis of the first magnetic gap for each magnetic pole is arranged at an angle of greater than 45° with respect to each permanent magnet in the respective pole opening toward said stator.

8. The permanent magnet rotating electric machine of claim 1 , wherein each of said bridge portions has a substantially uniform thickness along its length.

9. The permanent magnet electric rotating machine of claim 8 , further comprising a pole piece portion for each magnetic pole.

10. The permanent magnet electric rotating machine of claim 9 , wherein respective pole piece portions are adjacent to respective bridge portions.
