Braid-ball embolic devices
Embolic implants, delivery systems and methods of manufacture and delivery are disclosed. The devices can be used for aneurysm treatment and/or parent vessel occlusion. Implant designs offer low profile compressibility for delivery to neurovasculature, while maintaining other necessary features such as density for occlusion purposes and desirable radial strength characteristics.
1. An aneurysm embolization device comprising:
a braid body having a first end and a second end, wherein a first band is attached to the first end and a second band is attached to the second end, the first and second bands securing the braid,
the body adapted to be compressed for delivery through a catheter and adapted to open, upon deployment, to substantially fill an aneurysm having a dome and a neck, such that the body has only a single layer of braid adjacent to the aneurysm dome and a plurality of layers of braid adjacent to the aneurysm neck, and such that no part of the body extends over the aneurysm neck outside of the dome.
