Abstract

Techniques for using a universal media bar for controlling different types of media are described.

Claims (7)

1 . A method in a computing system for displaying a media bar for controlling the playback of media on appliances, comprising:

a plurality of buttons providing control of media;

identifying media for rendering on appliance, the media having a known type;

identifying appliances available to render identified media from a plurality of appliances;

selecting one or more available appliances for media playback;

modifying the presented buttons functionality based on identified media type; and

displaying media bar for controlling identified media playback on the selected appliances.
