ADIPOSE TISSUE DERIVED STROMAL CELLS FOR THE TREATMENT OF NEUROLOGICAL DISORDERS
The present invention relates to a treatment of neural injury and neurodegenerative diseases. Also included in the present invention is the use of adipose tissue derived stromal cells for the treatment of neural injury (stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury) and neurodegeneration (i.e. Parkinson's disease).

26 . An isolated adipose tissue derived stromal cell that has been induced to express at least one characteristic of a cell selected from the group consisting of: an astroglial cell, a hematopoietic progenitor cell, and a hepatic cell.

29 . The isolated adipose tissue derived stromal cell of claim 26 in which at least one non-endogenous nucleic acid sequence has been introduced into the cell.

A composition that includes an adipose tissue derived stromal cell that has been induced to express at least one characteristic of a cell selected from the group consisting of: an astroglial cell, a hematopoietic progenitor cell, and a hepatic cell in combination with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

33 . The composition of claim 30 , wherein at least one non-endogenous nucleic acid sequence has been introduced into the stromal cell.

An isolated adipose tissue derived stromal cell that has been induced to express at least one characteristic of a cell selected from the group consisting of: an astroglial cell, a hematopoietic progenitor cell, and a hepatic cell, in a two or three dimensional framework suitable for implantation into a host.
