Print cartridge having enlarged end reservoirs
View Patent ↗A print cartridge is provided having an elongate body defining a number of printing fluid reservoirs along the elongate length with end reservoirs being larger than reservoirs interposed between the end reservoirs, a lid covering the body to seal the reservoirs, and a printhead on the body in fluid communication with the reservoirs.
1. A print cartridge comprising:
an elongate body defining a number of printing fluid reservoirs along the elongate length with end reservoirs being larger than reservoirs interposed between the end reservoirs;
a lid covering the body to seal the reservoirs; and
a printhead on the body in fluid communication with the reservoirs.
2. A cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein a base of each reservoir has a raised portion which surrounds an outlet through which printing fluid is communicated to the printhead.
3. A cartridge according to claim 2 , comprising air barriers and fluid filters positioned over the outlets atop the respective raised portions thereby leaving a space between the respective filters and outlets.
4. A cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein each reservoir includes a layered stack of absorbent material forming a micro-capillary array for suspending fluid inside the reservoirs.
5. A cartridge according to claim 4 , wherein the absorbent material is polymer-based.
6. A cartridge according to claim 5 , wherein the polymer-based material is selected from the group consisting of: polycarbonate, acrylic, polysulfone, polystyrene, fluoropolymer, cyclic olefin polymer, and cyclic olefin copolymer.
