Wireless communication device and method for use therewith

At least one task menu specific to the object class selection is provided. A task selection is received from the at least one task menu. A task associated with the at least one object ( 14 ) is facilitated based on the image and the task selection.
1. A wireless communication device comprising:
a wireless transceiver for placing and receiving telephone calls and for communicating with an internet;
a digital camera for capturing a digital image of a scene in response to an action of a user, wherein the scene includes a poster;
a display device, coupled to the digital camera, for displaying the digital image of the scene;
a user input interface for receiving a selection of a task from a task menu, wherein the task is associated with an event; and
a processor, coupled to the digital camera, the display device, the wireless transceiver and the user input interface, for facilitating the task based on a recognition of the poster and not based on the recognition of an optical code contained in the poster, wherein facilitating the task includes:
retrieving event information associated with the poster, the event information including scheduling information relating to the event; and
facilitating the display of the event information on the display device;
wherein the event is a movie.
2. The wireless communication device of claim 1 wherein facilitating the task further includes:
retrieving location information relating to the event; and
displaying the location information on the display device.
3. The wireless communication device of claim 2 wherein facilitating the task further includes:
retrieving travel information to the location; and
displaying the travel information on the display device.
4. The wireless communication device of claim 1 wherein facilitating the task further includes:
ordering a ticket to the event.
5. The wireless communication device of claim 1 wherein facilitating the task further includes:
sending a message to a person relating to the event via the internet.
6. A wireless communication device comprising:
a wireless transceiver for placing and receiving telephone calls and for communicating with an internet;
a digital camera for capturing a digital image of a scene in response to an action of a user, wherein the scene includes a sign;
a display device, coupled to the digital camera, for displaying the digital image of the scene;
a user input interface for receiving a selection of a task from a task menu, wherein the task is associated with an event; and
a processor, coupled to the digital camera, the display device, the wireless transceiver and the user input interface, for facilitating the task based on a recognition of the sign and not based on the recognition of an optical code contained in the sign, wherein facilitating the task includes:
retrieving event information associated with the sign, the event information including scheduling information relating to an event; and
facilitating the display of the event information on the display device.
7. The wireless communication device of claim 6 wherein facilitating the task further includes:
retrieving location information relating to the event; and
displaying the location information on the display device.
8. The wireless communication device of claim 6 wherein facilitating the task further includes:
capturing at least one picture of a location.
9. The wireless communication device of claim 6 wherein facilitating the task further includes:
getting a postcard of a location.
10. The wireless communication device of claim 7 wherein facilitating the task further includes:
retrieving travel information to the location; and
displaying the travel information on the display device.
11. The wireless communication device of claim 6 wherein facilitating the task further includes:
ordering a ticket to the event.
12. The wireless communication device of claim 6 wherein facilitating the task further includes:
sending a message to a person relating to the event via the internet.
13. The wireless communication device of claim 6 wherein facilitating the task further includes:
making reservations at a restaurant.
14. The wireless communication device of claim 6 wherein facilitating the task further includes:
retrieving food information; and
displaying the food information on the display device.
15. A wireless communication device comprising:
a wireless transceiver for placing and receiving telephone calls and for communicating with an internet;
a digital camera for capturing a digital image of a scene in response to an action of a user, wherein the scene includes a sign;
a display device, coupled to the digital camera, for displaying the digital image of the scene;
a user input interface for receiving a selection of a task from a task menu, wherein the task is associated with a location; and
a processor, coupled to the digital camera, the display device, the wireless transceiver and the user input interface, for facilitating the task based on a recognition of the sign and not based on the recognition of an optical code contained in the sign, wherein facilitating the task includes:
retrieving location information relating to the sign; and
displaying the location information on the display device.
16. The wireless communication device of claim 15 wherein facilitating the task further includes:
retrieving travel information to the location; and
displaying the travel information on the display device.
17. The wireless communication device of claim 15 wherein facilitating the task further includes:
capturing at least one picture of the location.
18. The wireless communication device of claim 15 wherein facilitating the task further includes:
getting a postcard of the location.
19. The wireless communication device of claim 15 wherein facilitating the task further includes:
retrieving event information associated with the sign, the event information including scheduling information relating to an event; and
facilitating the display of the event information on the display device.
20. The wireless communication device of claim 19 wherein facilitating the task further includes:
ordering a ticket to the event.
21. The wireless communication device of claim 19 wherein facilitating the task further includes:
sending a message to a person relating to the event via the internet.
22. The wireless communication device of claim 15 wherein facilitating the task further includes:
making reservations at a restaurant.
23. The wireless communication device of claim 15 wherein facilitating the task further includes:
retrieving food information; and
displaying the food information on the display device.
24. The wireless communication device of claim 15 wherein facilitating the task further includes:
sending physical mail to a person.
