Detection of CXADR protein for diagnosis of kidney cancer
View Patent ↗The present invention provides a method for diagnosing and detecting diseases associated with kidney. The present invention provides one or more proteins or fragments thereof, peptides or nucleic acid molecules differentially expressed in kidney diseases (KCAT) and antibodies binds to KCATs. The present invention provides that KCATs are used as targets for screening agents that modulates the KCAT activities. Further the present invention provides methods for treating diseases associated with kidney.
1. A method of diagnosing kidney cancer in an individual, the method comprising detecting an elevated level of coxsackie virus and adenovirus receptor (CXADR) protein in a sample from the individual relative to a control CXADR protein level of a non-cancerous sample, wherein the elevated level of CXADR protein indicates that said individual has kidney cancer, and wherein the amino acid sequence of the CXADR protein comprises a sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NOS:47-53 and 2478-2479.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the elevated level of CXADR protein is detected by contacting the sample from the individual with an isolated antibody that selectively binds to the CXADR protein and detecting binding of the antibody to the CXADR protein.
3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the antibody is coupled to a detectable substance.
