Abstract

A printhead IC is provided having an ejection nozzle, drive circuitry for generating drive signals for driving the ejection nozzle, and a temperature sensor connected to the drive circuitry. The drive circuitry adjusts the drive signals in response to output of the temperature sensor so as to generate the drive signals as print signals and de-clog signals. The de-clog signals have a longer duration than the print signals.

Claims (10)

1. A printhead IC comprising:

an ejection nozzle;

drive circuitry for generating drive signals for driving the ejection nozzle; and

a temperature sensor connected to the drive circuitry,

wherein the drive circuitry adjusts the drive signals in response to output of the temperature sensor so as to generate the drive signals as print signals and de-clog signals, the de-clog signals having a longer duration than the print signals.

2. A printhead IC according to claim 1 wherein the temperature sensor can be selectively activated.

3. A printhead IC according to claim 1 wherein the drive circuitry receives print data from a connected controller and generates the print signals in accordance with the print data.

4. A printhead IC according to claim 3 wherein the drive circuitry extracts a clock signal from the print data.

5. A printhead IC according to claim 3 wherein the drive circuitry is configured to receive the print data in any one of a plurality of different data transmission protocols.

6. A printhead IC according to claim 1 wherein the drive circuitry resets to a known state in response to receiving power from a power source after a period of not receiving power from the power source.
