Abstract

In an embodiment, a radio resource manager device is provided. The radio resource manager device may include a receiver configured to receive an application applying for radio resources; an interference allowance determiner configured to determine whether interference of signal transmission during radio communication using radio resources is allowed; and a radio resource assigner configured to assign radio resources based on the determined interference allowance.

Claims (28)

1. A radio resource manager device, comprising:

a receiver configured to receive an application applying for radio resources;

an interference allowance determiner configured to determine whether interference of signal transmission during radio communication using radio resources is allowed; and

a radio resource assigner configured to assign radio resources based on the determined interference allowance,

wherein the receiver is further configured to receive an application of a client device applying for radio resources,

wherein the interference allowance determiner is further configured to determine whether interference of signal transmission during radio communication using radio resources assigned to the client device is allowed for the client device,

wherein the radio resource assigner is further configured to assign radio resources to the client device based on the determined interference allowance of the client device,

wherein the radio resource assigner is further configured to assign radio resources exclusively to the client device, in case the determined interference allowance indicates that interference is not allowed for the client device, and

wherein the radio resource assigner is further configured to assign radio resources non-exclusively to the client device, in case the determined interference allowance indicates that interference is allowed for the client device, the non-exclusive assignment of radio resources being for concurrent uplink communication of more than one client device.

2. The radio resource manager device of claim 1 , further comprising:

a radio resource re-assignment determiner configured to determine whether a re-assignment of radio resources is to be performed.

3. The radio resource manager device of claim 2 ,

wherein the radio resource re-assignment determiner is configured to determine whether the re-assignment of radio resources is to be performed based on whether a client device newly applies for radio resources.

4. The radio resource manager device of claim 2 ,

wherein the radio resource re-assignment determiner is configured to determine whether the re-assignment of radio resources is to be performed based on whether a client device resigns from using the radio resources assigned to the client device resigning from using the radio resources.

5. The radio resource manager device of claim 2 ,

wherein the radio resource re-assignment determiner is configured to determine whether the re-assignment of radio resources is to be performed based on whether information on whether interference is allowed for a client device, to which the radio resource manager has assigned radio resources, has changed.

6. The radio resource manager device of claim 2 , further comprising

a virtual radio resource assigner configured to compute an assignment of radio resources to a client device;

wherein the radio resource re-assignment determiner is configured to determine whether the re-assignment of radio resources is to be performed based on the result of the virtual radio resource assigner.

7. The radio resource manager device of claim 1 ,

wherein the radio resources comprise at least one of the following:

distinct sub-areas in the frequency-time plane; and

3GPP LTE resource elements.

8. The radio resource manager device of claim 1 ,

wherein the radio resource assigner is further configured in case of assigning the same radio resources non-exclusively to at least two client devices and configured to choose the at least two client devices based on the relative location of the client devices.

9. A radio resource manager device, configured to: determine an interference allowance for a client device that is applying for radio resources to operate a femto-Node B; assign radio resources non-exclusively to the client device when interference is determined to be above the interference allowance; assign radio resources exclusively to the client device when interference is determined to be at or below the interference allowance, wherein radio resources that are assigned non-exclusively are assignable is for concurrent assignment to another client device for operation of another femto-Node B, and wherein radio resources are assigned exclusively to the client device when interference is not allowed for the client device.

10. A radio resource manager device, comprising: a receiver configured to receive respective applications associated with respective client devices applying for radio resources; an interference allowance determiner configured to determine whether interference of signal transmission during radio communication using radio resources assigned to each of the client devices is allowed for each of the client devices; and a radio resource assigner configured to assign respective radio resources to each of the client devices based on the determined interference allowances for each of the client devices, wherein each of the plurality of client devices is to provide a cell based on respective assigned radio resources, and wherein the radio resource assigner is configured to select at least two client devices for a non-exclusive assignment of the same radio resources based on the relative location of the two client devices.
