Abstract

The invention provides an immunostimulatory nucleic acid. In certain embodiments according to this aspect of the invention, the sequence of the immunostimulatory oligonucleotide and/or immunomer is at least partially self-complementary.

Claims (6)

1. A method for treating a patient having airway inflammation, allergy, or asthma, such method comprising administering to the patient an immunostimulatory oligonucleotide having the structure 5′-TCG 1 AACG 1 TTCG 1 -X-G 1 CTTG 1 CAAG 1 CT-5′[SEQ ID NO. 1], 5′-CTGTCoG 2 TTCTC-X-CTCTTG 2 oCTGTC-5′[SEQ ID NO. 29], 5′-CTGTCG 2 TTCTCo-X-oCTCTTG 2 CTGTC-5′[SEQ. ID NO. 28], 5′-TCG 1 AACG 1 TTCG 1 -Y-TCTTG 2 CTGTCT-5′[SEQ ID NOs 22 AND 35], or 5′-TCG 1 AACG 1 TTCG 1 -Y-GACAG 1 CTGTCT-5′ [SEQ ID NOs. 32 AND 38]; wherein X is a glycerol linker, Y is a C3-linker, G 1 is 2′-deoxy-7-deazaguanosine, G 2 is arabinoguanosine and o is phosphodiester linkage.

2. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the route of administration is selected from parenteral, oral, sublingual, transdermal, topical, intranasal, aerosol, intraocular, intratracheal, intrarectal, vaginal, gene gun, dermal patch, eye drop and mouthwash.

3. A method for preventing airway inflammation, allergy, or asthma, such method comprising administering to a patient an immunostimulatory oligonucleotide having the structure 5′-TCG 1 AACG 1 TTCG 1 -X-G 1 CTTG 1 CAAG 1 CT 5′[SEQ ID NO. 1], 5′-CTGTCoG 2 TTCTC-X-CTCTTG 2 oCTGTC-5′[SEQ ID NO. 29], 5′-CTGTCG 2 TTCTCo-X-oCTCTTG 2 CTGTC-5′[SEQ ID NO. 28], 5′-TCG 1 AACG 1 TTCG 1 -Y-TCTTG 2 CTGTCT-5[SEQ ID NOs 22 AND 35], or 5′-TCG 1 AACG 1 TTCG 1 -Y-GACAG 1 CTGTCT-5′[SEQ ID NOs. 32 AND 38]; wherein X is a glycerol linker, Y is a C3-linker, G 1 is 2′-deoxy-7-deazaguanosine, G 2 is arabinoguanosine and o is phosphodiester linkage.

4. The method according to claim 3 , wherein the route of administration is selected from parenteral, oral, sublingual, transdermal, topical, intranasal, aerosol, intraocular, intratracheal, intrarectal, vaginal, gene gun, dermal patch, eye drop and mouthwash.

5. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising administering an antibody, antisense oligonucleotide, protein, antigen, allergen, chemotherapeutic agent or adjuvant.

6. The method according to claim 3 , further comprising administering an antibody, antisense oligonucleotide, protein, antigen, allergen, chemotherapeutic agent or adjuvant.
