Methods of treating conditions caused by increased expression of nerve growth factor (NGF) or increased sensitivity to NGF using anti-NGF neutralizing antibodies as selective NGF pathway inhibitors
View Patent ↗This invention provides antibodies that interact with or bind to human nerve growth factor (NGF) and neutralize the function of NGF thereby. The invention also provides pharmaceutical compositions of these antibodies and methods for neutralizing NGF function, and particularly for treating NGF-related disorders (e.g., chronic pain) by administering a pharmaceutically effective amount of anti-NGF antibodies. Methods of detecting the amount of NGF in a sample using anti-NGF antibodies are also provided.
1. A method of treating a condition caused by increased expression of nerve growth factor (NGF) or increased sensitivity to NGF, comprising administering to a patient, through subcutaneous injection, a pharmaceutically effective amount of a pharmaceutical composition comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and an isolated antibody or antibody fragment thereof,
wherein the antibody comprises a light chain comprising SEQ ID NO: 44 and a heavy chain comprising SEQ ID NO: 40 and the antibody or antibody fragment specifically binds to NGF, wherein the condition is pain caused by osteoarthritis, and wherein the pharmaceutically effective amount of the NGF antibody or antibody fragment is from about 1 mg to about 30 mg per subcutaneous injection.
2. A method of treating a condition caused by increased expression of nerve growth factor (NGF) or increased sensitivity to NGF comprising administering to a patient through subcutaneous injection, a pharmaceutically effective amount of a pharmaceutical composition comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and a single chain antibody,
