Lubricant compositions
View Patent ↗Compositions comprising a farnesane dimer and/or a farnesene dimer and a compound selected from squalene, squalene and dehydrosqualene are described. The compositions provided comprise conventional additives. Methods of making and using the compounds and composition are also disclosed.
1. A composition comprising compound II-A, and a compound selected from squalane, squalene, and (6E,11E,18E)-2,6,19,23-tetramethyl-10,15-dimethylenetetracosa-2,6,11,18,22-pentaene, wherein compound II-A is

4. The composition of claim 1 comprising compound II-A and squalane.
5. The composition of claim 4 further comprising compound II-B.
6. The composition of claim 5 further comprising a compound selected from I-A, I-B, I-C, I-D, II-C and II-D.
7. The composition of claim 1 , wherein compound II-A is present in about 1% or greater based on total weight of the composition.
8. The composition of claim 1 , wherein compound II-A is present in about 20% or greater based on total weight of the composition.
9. The composition of claim 1 , wherein compound II-A is present in about 40% or greater based on total weight of the composition.
10. The composition of claim 2 , wherein compound II-B is present in about 1% or greater based on total weight of the composition.
11. The composition of claim 2 , wherein compound II-B is present in about 20% or greater based on total weight of the composition.
12. The composition of claim 2 , wherein compound II-B is present in about 40% or greater based on total weight of the composition.
13. The composition of claim 1 , wherein squalane is present in about 1% or greater based on total weight of the composition.
14. The composition of claim 13 , wherein squalane is present in about 20% or greater based on total weight of the composition.
15. The composition of claim 1 , wherein squalene is present in about 1% or greater based on total weight of the composition.
16. The composition of claim 1 , wherein (6E,11E,18E)-2,6,19,23-tetramethyl-10,15-dimethylenetetracosa-2,6,11,18,22-pentaene is present in about 1% or greater based on total weight of the composition.
17. The composition of claim 1 that is a lubricant composition.
18. The composition of claim 1 further comprising at least one additive selected from the group consisting of an antioxidant, an antiwear agent, a detergent, a rust inhibitor, a demulsifier, a friction modifier, a multi-functional additive, a viscosity index improver, a pour point depressant, a foam inhibitor, a metal deactivator, a dispersant, a corrosion inhibitor, a lubricity improver, a solubilizing agent, a seal-swell agent and a combination thereof.
19. A method of lubricating a machine comprising the step of operating the machine in contact with the composition of claim 1 .
20. A machine comprising the composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition is used to lubricate the machine.
