Linked progressive jackpot system
View Patent ↗A gaming machine 10 has a display 14 and a game controller arranged to control images of symbols displayed on the display 14 . The game controller is arranged to play a game 16 in which at least one random event is caused to be displayed on the display 14 . If a predefined winning event occurs, the machine 10 awards a prize to a player. When a trigger condition occurs in a base game of the game 16 , a bonus game feature is awarded comprising a series of bonus games. If a particular special symbol outcome occurs during any of the bonus games, the particular special symbol outcome is collected towards a jackpot prize awarding event.
1. A gaming machine arranged to facilitate a play of a game having an outcome, in which a player selects a bet having a value from a plurality of predefined bets to place on the outcome of the game, the gaming machine comprising:
a display;
a controller configured to control the display to display randomly selected symbols defining a base game outcome, and to award a bonus game comprising a plurality of free games if the base game outcome corresponds to a predefined trigger outcome,
said controller configured to control the display during the free games to display randomly selected symbols from a first set of symbols that includes at least one special symbol, said at least one special symbol corresponding to a plurality of predefined sequences of a plurality of successive special symbol outcomes for each of the plurality of predefined bets, said controller arranged to select one of said plurality of predefined sequences associated with the selected bet; and
an input mechanism arranged to allow the player to select the at least one special symbol when displayed on the display, and
wherein said controller is configured to visually alter the selected at least one special symbol displayed on the display to reveal a special symbol outcome from the selected one of said plurality of predefined outcomes, in response to said input mechanism.
2. The gaming machine of claim 1 wherein said special symbol outcomes include at least one jackpot symbol.
3. The gaming machine of claim 2 wherein the controller is configured to accumulate revealed jackpot symbols and to award a jackpot if a predetermined number of jackpot symbols are accumulated.
4. The gaming machine of claim 3 wherein the controller is configured to select the special symbol outcomes from said selected one of said plurality of predefined sequences of special symbol outcomes in a predetermined order.
5. The gaming machine of claim 4 , and further comprising a device to determine the value of the player's bet and wherein said controller is configured to select a sequence associated with the value of said player's bet.
6. The gaming machine of claim 5 , and wherein said controller is further configured to award a jackpot and wherein a chance of winning said jackpot increases with an increased bet.
7. The gaming machine of claim 1 , and wherein said special symbol outcomes include a bonus credit prize, a bonus feature and a jackpot symbol contributing to an award amount of a jackpot.
8. A gaming machine arranged to facilitate a play of a game in which a player can select a bet from a plurality of predefined bets to place on an outcome of the game, the machine comprising:
a display;
a controller configured to control the display to display randomly selected symbols defining a base game outcome, and to award a bonus game comprising a plurality of free games if the base game outcome corresponds to a predefined trigger outcome,
said controller configured to control the display during the free games to display randomly selected symbols including symbols from a first set of symbols that includes at least one special symbol, said at least one special symbol corresponding to a plurality of predefined sequences of a plurality of successive special symbol outcomes for each of the plurality of predefined bets, said controller arranged to select one of said plurality of predefined sequences associated with the selected bet; and
an input device arranged to allow the player to select the at least one special symbol when displayed on the display, wherein said controller is configured to visually alter the at least one special symbol displayed on the display to reveal, in response to said input device, a special symbol outcome and wherein said controller is configured to accumulate revealed jackpot symbols and pay a jackpot if the player accumulates a predetermined number of jackpot symbols.
9. A gaming system arranged to facilitate a play of a game in which a player can select a bet from a plurality of predefined bets to place on an outcome of the game, the system comprising:
a plurality of gaming devices each including
a display;
a communication link between the gaming devices;
at least one controller configured to control the displays of the plurality of gaming devices to display randomly selected symbols defining a base game outcome, and to award a bonus game comprising a plurality of free games if the base game outcome corresponds to a predefined trigger outcome,
said controller is arranged to display on said display randomly selected symbols including symbols from a first set of symbols that includes at least one special symbol, said at least one special symbol corresponding to a plurality of predefined sequences of a plurality of successive special symbol outcomes for each of the plurality of predefined bets, said controller arranged to select one of said plurality of predefined sequences associated with the selected bet; and
at least one input device arranged to allow the player to select the at least one special symbol when displayed on the displays, wherein said controller is configured to visually alter the at least one special symbol displayed on the display to reveal, in response to said at least one input device, a special symbol outcome, and wherein said controller is configured to accumulate revealed jackpot symbols and pay a jackpot if the player accumulates a predetermined number of jackpot symbols.
