Abstract

A method for presenting additional content for a word that is part of a message, and that is presented by a mobile communication device, includes the steps of: presenting the message, including emphasizing one or more words for which respective additional content is available for presenting by the mobile communication device; receiving an utterance that includes an emphasized word for which additional content is available for presenting by the mobile communication device; and presenting the additional content for the emphasized word included in the utterance received by the mobile communication device. These steps are performed by the mobile communication device.

receive a transmission, wherein the transmission comprises the transcribed message, wherein the transcribed message includes text, the text including one or more words for which additional content is available, wherein the one or more words for which additional content is available are identified by reviewing the transcribed message at a remote computing device prior to receipt of the transmission;

present the text on the first communication device, said presenting including emphasizing in the text the one or more words for which additional content is available as one or more emphasized words;

receive, by the first communication device, an utterance comprising at least one emphasized word of the as one or more emphasized words;

communicate the utterance and the identifier of the first communication device from the first communication device to the remote computing device;

receive, by the first communication device, the additional content for the at least one emphasized word, wherein the additional content for the at least one emphasized word is determined by the remote computing device based at least in part on an association, at the remote computing device, of (a) the at least one emphasized word and (b) the additional content for the at least one emphasized word, with the identifier of the first communication device; and

present, on the first communication device, the additional content received for the at least one emphasized word.

15. The system of claim 14 , wherein the transcribed message does not include any information identifying the additional content.

16. The system of claim 14 , wherein the remote computing device identifies the additional content using the identifier of the first communication device and the utterance.

17. The system of claim 14 , wherein the additional content for the one or more emphasized words is stored in the remote computing device.

18. The system of claim 17 , wherein the additional content is stored in a memory of the remote computing device in association with the one of the one or more emphasized words to which the additional content pertains.

19. The system of claim 18 , wherein the additional content is identified based on a comparison of a textual representation of the at least one emphasized word included in the utterance communicated to the remote computing device with the text of emphasized words stored in the memory of the remote computing device.
