Insecticidal

1. A compound having the formula

wherein

X represents NO 2 , CN, or COOR 4 ,

Y represents hydrogen, C 1 -C 4 alkyl, or phenyl, and

R 4 represents C 1 -C 3 alkyl.

2. A composition for controlling insects which comprises a compound of claim 1 in combination with a phytologically-acceptable carrier.

3. A method of controlling insects which comprises applying to a locus where control is desired an insect-inactivating amount of a compound of any one of claims 1 - 2 .

4. A composition for controlling insects which comprises a compound of claim 1 in combination with at least one other insecticide or fungicide.

A composition according to claim 4 wherein said at least one other insecticide is selected from the group consisting of allosamidin, thuringiensin, spinosad, abamectin, doramectin, emamectin, eprinomectin, ivermectin, selamectin, lepimectin, milbemectin, milbemycin oxime, moxidectin, calcium arsenate, copper acetoarsenite, copper arsenate, lead arsenate, potassium arsenite, sodium A method of controlling insects which comprises applying to a locus where control is desired an insect-inactivating amount of a compound according to claim 1 wherein said locus comprises vegetable crops, fruit and nut trees, grape vines, ornamental plants, domesticated animals, the interior or exterior surfaces of buildings, or the soil around buildings.
