Abstract

A reflector capable of suppressing contrast reduction caused by retro-reflection, a display device having the same, and a method of manufacturing the same are provided. The reflector includes: a base having first and second surfaces which are opposed to each other, the second surface being provided with a reflective element; and a plurality of burying layers formed around the reflective element and including at least one light absorption burying layer.

Claims (21)

1. A reflector comprising:

a base having first and second surfaces which are opposed to each other, the second surface being provided with a reflective element extending away from the second surface;

a light absorbing film formed on the second surface in areas around the reflective element;

a reflector film formed on the light absorbing film and on side faces of the reflective element; and

a plurality of fill layers formed around the reflector film and extending away from the second surface, the fill layers including at least one light absorption fill layer having a surface that is parallel to a front end face of the reflective element, the surface of the light absorption fill layer being opposed to the second surface of the base,

wherein the light absorbing film and the light absorption fill layer cooperate to absorb light entering from a first surface side of the base and a front end face side of the base, respectively, in the areas surrounding the reflective element.

2. The reflector according to claim 1 ,

wherein the plurality of fill layers include, in order from the second surface, a first fill layer made of a resin material and a second fill layer as the light absorption fill layer, second fill layer containing a resin material and a light absorption material,

the first fill layer has a recessed part whose surface is nearer to the second surface than the front end face of the reflective element, and

the recessed part in the first fill layer is filled with the second fill layer.

3. The reflector according to claim 1 , wherein the reflector film is configured to reflect light entering from the front end face of the reflective element.

4. The reflector according to claim 1 , wherein the reflector film is configured to reflect light entering from the front end face of the reflective element.

5. The reflector according to claim 1 , wherein a color filter is provided on a bottom of the reflective element.

6. A display device comprising:

a light emission panel having a plurality of self-luminous light emitting elements on a substrate; and

a reflector provided on a light extraction side of the light emission panel, wherein the reflector includes:

a base having first and second surfaces which are opposed to each other, the second surface being provided with a reflective element extending away from the second surface;

a light absorbing film formed on the second surface in areas around the reflective element;

a reflector film formed on the light absorbing film and on side faces of the reflective element; and

a plurality of fill layers formed around the reflector film and extending away from the second surface, the fill layers including at least one light absorption fill layer having a surface that is parallel to a front end face of the reflective element, the surface of the light absorption fill layer being opposed to the second surface of the base,

wherein the light absorbing film and the light absorption fill layer cooperate to absorb light entering from a first surface side of the base and a front end face side of the base, respectively, in the areas surrounding the reflective element.
