Backlight assembly and flat panel display apparatus having the same
View Patent ↗In a backlight assembly and a flat panel display apparatus, the backlight assembly has a diffusing plate, a supporting member and reflecting plate. The supporting member has a base body portion, a supporting portion supporting the diffusing plate and a lamp holder receiving lamps to uniformly maintain spaced intervals between the lamps. The base body portion is disposed under the reflecting plate. The supporting portion and the lamp holder are inserted through engaging openings formed at the reflecting plate such that the supporting portion and the lamp holder are upwardly protruded with respect to the reflecting plate. Accordingly, the backlight assembly may reduce an area of the reflecting plate covered by the supporting member, thereby providing the light having uniform brightness distribution.
1. A backlight assembly, comprising:
a light source that emits light;
a diffusing member diffusing the light from the light source;
a reflecting plate reflecting the light from the light source toward the diffusing member and including a first opening;
a receiving container receiving the light source, the diffusing member and the reflecting plate, the receiving container comprising a bottom plate having a second opening that corresponds to the first opening of the reflecting plate and a plurality of sidewalls extending from the bottom plate; and
a supporting member disposed under the diffusing member, the supporting member comprising a supporting portion supporting the diffusing member, a base body portion connected to the supporting portion and inserted to the second opening of the receiving container, and a protrusion protruded from the supporting portion and overlapped an edge of the second opening of the bottom plate.
2. The backlight assembly of claim 1 , wherein the supporting portion partially inserts to the first opening of the reflecting plate.
3. The backlight assembly of claim 2 , wherein the base body portion includes a first portion disposed under the bottom plate of the receiving container and a second portion protruding from the first portion to insert to the second opening of the bottom plate of the receiving container.
4. The backlight assembly of claim 3 , wherein the first portion of the base body portion has a cross-sectional area greater than an area of the second opening.
5. The backlight assembly of claim 1 , wherein an area of the first opening is greater than an area of the second opening.
6. The backlight assembly of claim 1 , wherein an end portion of the protrusion of the supporting member contacts with the reflecting plate.
7. A flat panel display apparatus, comprising:
a display panel that displays an image; and,
a backlight assembly comprising:
a light source that emits light;
a diffusing member diffusing the light from the light source;
a reflecting plate reflecting the light from the light source toward the diffusing member and including a first opening;
a receiving container receiving the light source, the diffusing member and the reflecting plate, the receiving container comprising a bottom plate having a second opening that corresponds to the first opening of the reflecting plate and a plurality of sidewalls extending from the bottom plate; and
a supporting member disposed under the diffusing member, the supporting member comprising a supporting portion supporting the diffusing member, a base body portion connected to the supporting portion and inserted to the second opening of the receiving container, and a protrusion protruded from the supporting portion and overlapped an edge of the second opening of the bottom plate.
8. The flat panel display apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the supporting portion partially inserts to the first opening of the reflecting plate.
9. The flat panel display apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the base body portion includes a first portion disposed under the bottom plate of the receiving container and a second portion protruding from the first portion to insert to the second opening of the bottom plate of the receiving container.
10. The flat panel display apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the first portion of the base body portion has a cross-sectional area greater than an area of the second opening.
11. The flat panel display apparatus of claim 7 , wherein an area of the first opening is greater than an area of the second opening.
12. The flat panel display apparatus of claim 7 , wherein an end portion of the protrusion of the supporting member contacts with the reflecting plate.
