Abstract

Described herein are improved capabilities for a source resonator having a Q-factor Q 1 >100 and a characteristic size x 1 coupled to an energy source, and a second resonator having a Q-factor Q 2 >100 and a characteristic size x 2 coupled to an energy drain located a distance D from the source resonator, where the source resonator and the second resonator are coupled to exchange energy wirelessly among the source resonator and the second resonator.

Claims (12)

1. A method comprising:

providing a wireless energy transfer kit comprising:

a source comprising a source magnetic resonator for generating oscillating magnetic fields; and

a plurality of wireless energy capture devices each comprising a device magnetic resonator for capturing oscillating magnetic fields generated by said source; and

providing instructions for adapting components for wireless power transfer between said source and said plurality of energy capture devices.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the source magnetic resonators and device magnetic resonators are high-Q magnetic resonators.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the quality factors of said source magnetic resonators and said device magnetic resonators are at least 100.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein said wireless energy transfer kit further comprises a power amplifier wherein said power amplifier is configured to generate an oscillating voltage signal of a frequency less than 100 MHz.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein said source further comprises tunable electrical components electrically coupled to said source magnetic resonators.

6. The method of claim 5 , wherein each of said plurality of wireless energy capture devices further comprises tunable electrical components electrically coupled to said device magnetic resonators.

7. The method of claim 6 , wherein said tunable electrical components of the source and said energy transfer devices include adjustable capacitors.

8. The method of claim 6 , wherein said tunable electrical components of the source and said energy capture devices include adjustable inductors.
