Claims (9)

1. A brush holder assembly for positioning a brush in contact with a conductive surface of an electrical device, the brush holder assembly comprising:

a brush holding structure defining a surface configured to be in sliding contact with the brush, the wherein the surface is an electropolished surface.

2. The brush holder assembly of claim 1 , wherein the brush holding structure is a brush box configured to receive the brush, and the electropolished surface is an interior surface of the brush box in sliding contact with the brush.

3. The brush holder assembly of claim 2 , wherein the brush box is formed of stainless steel.

4. The brush holder assembly of claim 2 , wherein the electropolished interior surface of the brush box is smoother than an exterior surface of the brush box.

5. The brush holder assembly of claim 2 , wherein the electropolished interior surface reduces the likelihood of particles or dust collecting on the interior surface of the brush box.

6. The brush holder assembly of claim 1 , wherein the electropolished surface is a non-particulating surface.

7. The brush holder assembly of claim 1 , wherein the electropolished surface is formed by electrolytically removing material from the surface of the brush holding structure.

8. The brush holder assembly of claim 7 , wherein between about 0.0001 inches to about 0.0005 inches of material is removed from the surface of the brush holding structure to form the electropolished surface.
