Abstract

Disclosed is a method, system, and program for providing access to spatial data. A request for data is received. Enterprise and third party data are integrated. The integrated data is processed. Spatially referenced results are generated using the processed data. The spatially referenced results are returned in response to the request.

Claims (59)

1. A system for managing data comprising enterprise data and third party data, comprising:

a processor; and

storage coupled to the processor, wherein the storage stores a computer program, and wherein the processor executes the computer program to perform operations, wherein the operations comprise:

generating a map image by:

receiving selection of an area of interest;

based on the selected area of interest, identifying multiple base maps representing third party data;

receiving selection of a base map from the multiple base maps;

based on the selected area of interest and the selected base map, identifying data layers with enterprise data that includes customer information and asset locations, wherein different data layers are available for different base maps;

receiving selection of at least some of the identified data layers; and

overlaying the selected data layers with the selected base map to form the map image, wherein the map image includes at least a portion of the area of interest, at least a portion of the customer information, and at least one asset location.

2. The system of claim 1 , further comprising:

displaying the map image and an analysis summary window configured to display summary information about data in an active layer of the data layers.

3. The system of claim 1 , further comprising:

displaying identifiers for each of the data layers.

4. The system of claim 1 , further comprising:

displaying the map image and a find location portion for use in selecting the area of interest.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the map image comprises a buffer area that is overlaid on the map image as a new polygon.

6. The system of claim 1 , further comprising:

archiving the enterprise data.

7. The system of claim 1 , further comprising:

archiving the third party data.

8. A method for managing data comprising enterprise data and third party data for an area of interest, comprising:

generating, using a processor of a computer, a map image by:

receiving selection of an area of interest;

based on the selected area of interest, identifying multiple base maps representing third party data;

receiving selection of a base map from the multiple base maps;

based on the selected area of interest and the selected base map, identifying data layers with enterprise data that includes customer information and asset locations, wherein different data layers are available for different base maps;

receiving selection of at least some of the identified data layers; and

overlaying the selected data layers with the selected base map to form the map image, wherein the map image includes at least a portion of the area of interest, at least a portion of the customer information, and at least one asset location.

9. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

displaying the map image and an analysis summary window configured to display summary information about data in an active layer of the data layers.

10. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

displaying identifiers for each of the data layers.

11. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

displaying the map image and a find location portion for use in selecting the area of interest.

12. The method of claim 8 , wherein the map image comprises a buffer area that is overlaid on the map image as a new polygon.

13. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

archiving the enterprise data.

14. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

archiving the third party data.

15. An article of manufacture for managing data comprising enterprise data and third party data for an area of interest, wherein the article of manufacture comprises non-transitory storage that stores a computer program, and wherein the computer program is executed by a processor of a computer to perform:

generating a map image by:

receiving selection of an area of interest;

based on the selected area of interest, identifying multiple base maps representing third party data;

receiving selection of a base map from the multiple base maps;

based on the selected area of interest and the selected base map, identifying data layers with enterprise data that includes customer information and asset locations, wherein different data layers are available for different base maps;

receiving selection of at least some of the identified data layers; and

overlaying the selected data layers with the selected base map to form the map image, wherein the map image includes at least a portion of the area of interest, at least a portion of the customer information, and at least one asset location.

16. The article of manufacture of claim 15 , further comprising:

displaying the map image and an analysis summary window configured to display summary information about data in an active layer of the data layers.

17. The article of manufacture of claim 15 , further comprising:

displaying identifiers for each of the data layers.

18. The article of manufacture of claim 15 , further comprising:

displaying the map image and a find location portion for use in selecting the area of interest.

19. The article of manufacture of claim 15 , wherein the map image comprises a buffer area that is overlaid on the map image as a new polygon.

20. The article of manufacture of claim 15 , further comprising:

archiving the enterprise data.

21. The article of manufacture of claim 15 , further comprising:

archiving the third party data.
