Abstract

The present invention provides a method and system for verifying and tracking identification information. In an embodiment of the invention, a system for delivering security solutions is provided that includes at least one of the following: a radio frequency (RF) identification device, an identification mechanism (e.g., a card, sticker), and an RF reader.

Claims (34)

1. A system of verifying registration information of a vehicle, the system including:

a database configured to store biometric information and vehicle identification information;

a radio frequency device, the radio frequency device including a radio frequency antenna and a chip, the chip comprising:

a memory, the memory configured to store a security key, vehicle identification information, and biometric information for identifying an individual associated with the vehicle, and

a processor coupled with the memory the processor configured to provide access to the memory based on a security key, the processor further configured to:

receive a signal via the radio frequency antenna, the signal comprising a request to access the memory and a security key,

compare the security key included in the received message with the security key stored in the memory,

provide the biometric information in response to the access request when the security keys match; and

a reader coupled with the database, the reader configured to:

generate the access request, insert the security key into the generated request, and transmit the access request to the radio frequency device,

receive the biometric information from the radio frequency device,

compare the biometric information to the biometric information stored in the database, and

verify the identity of the individual in relation to the vehicle based on the comparison.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the vehicle identification information comprises at least one of:

a vehicle identification number (VIN);

physical characteristics of a vehicle;

make and model information; and

license plate number.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the biometric information includes at least one of finger print information, iris information, and facial image information.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the radio frequency device is included in a license plate attached to the vehicle.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the radio frequency device is included in a sticker attached to the vehicle.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the radio frequency device is included in a sticker attached to the window of the vehicle.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the radio frequency device further comprises:

information storage capabilities; and

transmission capabilities.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the radio frequency device is included in a retroreflective article attached to the vehicle.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the chip is an integrated circuit.

10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the biometric information is obtained from at least one of:

a passport;

a driver's license; and

an identification card.

11. The system of claim 1 , wherein the radio frequency device includes a unique identifier.

12. The system of claim 11 , wherein the unique identifier is a unique 64 bit serial number.

13. The system of claim 1 , wherein the radio frequency device is a radio frequency mobile communication device.
