Nozzle chambers having suspended heater elements
View Patent ↗An inkjet printhead is disclosed. The printhead includes a substrate, nozzle chambers formed on the substrate, and at least one heater element suspended in each nozzle chamber.
1. An inkjet printhead comprising:
a substrate;
a plurality of nozzle chambers formed on the substrate; and
at least one heater element suspended in each nozzle chamber, each heater element defining at least one elongate loop.
2. An inkjet printhead as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising drive circuitry for energizing respective heater elements, the drive circuitry being incorporated in the substrate.
3. An inkjet printhead integrated circuit as claimed in claim 1 , wherein two heater elements are suspended in each nozzle chamber.
4. An inkjet printhead integrated circuit as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the heater elements in each nozzle chamber are substantially the same length, but one of the heater elements is twice the width of the other heater element.
5. An inkjet printhead as claimed in claim 1 wherein, when the nozzle chambers are filled with ink, the heater elements are positioned at the surface of the ink, with the ink being below the heater elements.
6. An inkjet printhead as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the heater elements are suspended, cantilever fashion, in the respective nozzle chambers.
