Reactive organometallic dendrimers
View Patent ↗A process for modifying at least one dendron that is intended to form part of a dendrimer is disclosed. One reacts at least one reactable unsaturated group in a chemoselective manner to form a less unsaturated group. Also disclosed is a process for modifying dendrimers in a similar manner.
1. An organometallic dendrimer with a metal cation as part of its core and at least one dendron which comprises the structure:
wherein Y is oxygen in which case —Z 1 -Z 2 — represents N═CR 1 —, or Y is —N—R 2 in which case —Z 1 -Z 2 — forms part of a benzene ring or —N═CR 1 —, R 1 represents an optionally substituted benzene radical and R 2 represents an optionally substituted alkyl or aryl group, wherein the dendron is connected via an ethylene, substituted ethylene, vinylene or acetylenyl group of the core.
2. A dendrimer according to claim 1 wherein the dendron is connected via an acetylenyl group of the core.
3. A dendrimer according to claim 1 wherein Y is oxygen.
4. A dendrimer according to claim 1 wherein Y is —N—R 2 .
5. A dendrimer according to claim 4 wherein R 2 represents a phenyl group.
6. An organometallic dendrimer with a metal cation as part of its core wherein the core is attached directly to the first branching group of at least one dendron by an ethylene or substituted ethylene group.
7. A dendrimer according to claim 6 wherein the at least one dendron comprises (hetero)aryl links and/or branching points.
