Abstract

Embodiments of a multi-screen pinch-to-pocket gesture are described. In various embodiments, a first motion input to a first screen region is recognized at a first screen of a multi-screen system, and the first motion input is recognized to select a displayed object. A second motion input to a second screen region is recognized at a second screen of the multi-screen system, and the second motion input is recognized to select the displayed object. A pinch-to-pocket gesture can then be determined from the recognized first and second motion inputs within the respective first and second screen regions, the pinch-to-pocket gesture effective to pocket the displayed object.

Claims (30)

1 . A computer-implemented method, comprising:

recognizing a first motion input to a first screen region at a first screen of a multi-screen system, the first motion input being recognized to select a displayed object;

recognizing a second motion input to a second screen region at a second screen of the multi-screen system, the second motion input being recognized to select the displayed object;

determining a pinch-to-pocket gesture from the recognized first and second motion inputs within the respective first and second screen regions, the pinch-to-pocket gesture effective to pocket the displayed object.

A method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the pinch-to-pocket gesture is identified as a cross-screen combination of the first and second motion inputs effective to condense the displayed object within the first and second screen regions and pocket the displayed object proximate a bezel of the multi-screen system that separates the first and second screens.

3 . A method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the displayed object is saved as a thumbnail image when the displayed object is pocketed.

4 . A method as recited in claim 3 , wherein the thumbnail image is a selectable link to the displayed object when the displayed object is pocketed.

5 . A method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the displayed object is saved to a visual clip-board when the displayed object is pocketed.

6 . A method as recited in claim 1 , further comprising determining the pinch-to-pocket gesture from the first and second motion inputs that decrease a distance between a first input to the displayed object on the first screen and a second input to the displayed object on the second screen.

7 . A method as recited in claim 1 , further comprising recognizing a select input as a tap gesture on the displayed object that is pocketed, the tap gesture effective to expand the displayed object for display on the first and second screens.

8 . A multi-screen system, comprising:

at least a memory and a processor to implement a gesture module configured to determine a pinch-to-pocket gesture from recognized motion inputs, the pinch-to-pocket gesture effective to pocket a displayed object;

an input recognition system configured to:

recognize a first motion input to a first screen region at a first screen, the first motion input recognized when the displayed object is selected; and

recognize a second motion input to a second screen region at a second screen, the second motion input recognized when the displayed object is selected.

A multi-screen system as recited in claim 8 , wherein the gesture module is further configured to identify the pinch-to-pocket gesture as a cross-screen combination of the first and second motion inputs effective to condense the displayed object within the first and second screen regions and pocket the displayed object proximate a bezel that separates the first and second screens.

10 . A multi-screen system as recited in claim 8 , wherein the displayed object is saved as a thumbnail image when the displayed object is pocketed.

11 . A multi-screen system as recited in claim 10 , wherein the thumbnail image is a selectable link to the displayed object when the displayed object is pocketed.

12 . A multi-screen system as recited in claim 8 , wherein the displayed object is saved to a visual clip-board when the displayed object is pocketed.

A multi-screen system as recited in claim 8 , wherein the gesture module is further configured to determine the pinch-to-pocket gesture from the first and second motion inputs that decrease a distance between a first input to the displayed object on the first screen and a second input to the displayed object on the second screen.

14 . A multi-screen system as recited in claim 8 , wherein the input recognition system is further configured to recognize a select input as a tap gesture on the displayed object that is pocketed, the tap gesture effective to expand the displayed object for display on the first and second screens.

15 . Computer-readable storage media comprising instructions that are executable and, responsive to executing the instructions, a multi-screen system is initiated to:

recognize a first motion input to a first screen region at a first screen of the multi-screen system, the first motion input recognized to select a displayed object;

recognize a second motion input to a second screen region at a second screen of the multi-screen system, the second motion input recognized to select the displayed object; and

determine a pinch-to-pocket gesture from the recognized first and second motion inputs within the respective first and second screen regions, the pinch-to-pocket gesture effective to pocket the displayed object.

Computer-readable storage media as recited in claim 15 , further comprising additional instructions that are executable and, responsive to executing the additional instructions, the multi-screen system is further initiated to identify the pinch-to-pocket gesture as a cross-screen combination of the first and second motion inputs effective to condense the displayed object within the first and second screen regions and pocket the displayed object proximate a bezel of the multi-screen system that separates the first and second screens.

Computer-readable storage media as recited in claim 15 , further comprising additional instructions that are executable and, responsive to executing the additional instructions, the multi-screen system is further initiated to save the displayed object as a thumbnail image when the displayed object is pocketed.

Computer-readable storage media as recited in claim 15 , further comprising additional instructions that are executable and, responsive to executing the additional instructions, the multi-screen system is further initiated to save the displayed object to a visual clip-board when the displayed object is pocketed.

Computer-readable storage media as recited in claim 15 , further comprising additional instructions that are executable and, responsive to executing the additional instructions, the multi-screen system is further initiated to determine the pinch-to-pocket gesture from the first and second motion inputs that decrease a distance between a first input to the displayed object on the first screen and a second input to the displayed object on the second screen.

Computer-readable storage media as recited in claim 15 , further comprising additional instructions that are executable and, responsive to executing the additional instructions, the multi-screen system is further initiated to detect a select input as a tap gesture on the displayed object that is pocketed, the tap gesture effective to expand the displayed object for display on the first and second screens.
