A method of treating a nerve disorder mediated by nucleus pulposus in a mammal in need thereof, comprising: administering to said mammal a TNF-α inhibitor that is a monoclonal antibody which blocks TNF-α activity, thereby inhibiting TNF-α and treating said disorder.

60 . A method of treating a nerve disorder mediated by nucleus pulposus in a mammal in need thereof, comprising:
administering to said mammal a TNF-α inhibitor that is a monoclonal antibody which blocks TNF-α activity, thereby inhibiting TNF-α and treating said disorder.
61 . The method of claim 60 , wherein said nerve disorder presents as sciatica.
62 . The method of claim 60 , wherein said nerve disorder involves pain.
63 . The method of claim 60 , wherein said nerve disorder is caused by a herniated disc.
64 . The method of claim 60 , wherein said nerve disorder is nerve root injury.
65 . The method of claim 60 , wherein the mammal is human.
66 . The method of claim 60 , wherein said TNF-α inhibitor is administered parenterally.
67 . The method of claim 60 , wherein said TNF-α inhibitor is administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously.
